Clinopyroxene Dissolution Records Rapid Magma Ascent [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2020
Magma ascent rates control volcanic eruption styles. However, the rates at which basaltic magmas ascend through the crust remain highly uncertain. Although recent studies have successfully exploited records of decompression driven degassing to estimate ...

Nanoscale solid-fluid interaction and amphibole formation in the lithospheric mantle [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Reports
Nanoscale amphibole nucleation and growth in the Earth’s mantle is poorly understood despite its important role in the evolution and stability of the lithosphere, along with its influence on the coexisting fluid composition.

Circular Potential of Lithium-Ion Battery Recycling Slags: Quantifying Microstructure and Elemental Distribution for a Holistic Valorization. [PDF]

open access: yesAdv Sci (Weinh)
A lithium‐bearing slag is investigated with the goal of holistic valorization. The present β‐eucryptite (LiAlSiO4) exhibits a high lithium content and low levels of impurities. The spinel contains most of the chromium and vanadium, representing additional valorization opportunities.

Phase Diagrams of Carbonate Materials at High Pressures, with Implications for Melting and Carbon Cycling in the Deep Earth

open access: yesGeophysical Monograph Series, Page 137-165., 2020

This book is Open Access. A digital copy can be downloaded for free from Wiley Online Library.

Explores the behavior of carbon in minerals, melts, and fluids under extreme conditions

Carbon trapped in diamonds and carbonate-bearing rocks in subduction zones are examples of the continuing exchange of substantial carbon ...

Mineralogy of anorthosite veins and host gabbros in the Kal-e-Kafi intrusive body (northeast of Anarak, Isfahan Province, Central Iran)

open access: yesJournal of Economic Geology, 2022
Introduction In the northeastern part of the Isfahan province and 65 km northeast of the Anarak city (Kal-e-Kafi area), an I-type granitoid pluton cross cut the Paleozoic metamorphic rocks and Eocene volcanic rocks. In the contact of this granitoid body

Clinopyroxene Crystals in Basic Lavas of the Marsili Volcano Chronicle Early Magmatic Stages in a Back-Arc Transcrustal Mush System

open access: yesGeosciences, 2021
Constraining the pre-eruptive processes that modulate the chemical evolution of erupted magmas is a challenge. An opportunity to investigate this issue is offered by the interrogation of the crystals carried in lavas.

THE “CLINOPYROXENE” PALEOGEOTHERM BENEATH THE OBNAZHENNAYA KIMBERLITE PIPE AND THIСKNESS OF LITHOSPHERE UNDER THE KUOYKA FIELD (SIBERIAN CRATON, YAKUTIA)

open access: yesГеодинамика и тектонофизика, 2022
The mantle paleogeotherm under the Obnazhennaya kimberlite pipe (Kuoika field, Siberian craton) was reconstructed using the chemical composition of clinopyroxene xenocrystals and the FITPLOT program.

Compositional Data Analysis (CoDA) of Clinopyroxene From Abyssal Peridotites

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, 2022
We analyze a large database of abyssal peridotite clinopyroxene compositions using log‐ratio transformation, principal component analysis (PCA) and k‐means clustering, to better understand clinopyroxene compositional systematics in abyssal peridotites ...

Application of Clinopyroxene Chemistry for Investigation of the physical conditions of ascending magma, a case study of volcanic rocks in the Aliabad area (Northwest of Nain)

open access: yesJournal of Economic Geology, 2020
Introduction The Aliabad area is located in the northwest of Nain. Volcanic rocks of the Aliabad area have andesitic to rhyolitic composition. On the basis of petrographic investigations, porphyritic texture is the main texture of these rocks.

PHYSICO-CHEMICAL CONDITIONS OF CRYSTALLIZATION OF MINERALS-PHENOCRYSTS IN BASALTIC COMPLEXES HOSTING MASSIVE SULFIDE DEPOSITS OF THE URALS AND SIBERIA [PDF]

open access: yesМинералогия, 2020
The paper discusses the physico-chemical formation conditions of minerals-phenocrysts in basaltic complexes, which host massive sulfide deposits of the Urals and Siberia. It is found as a result of study of melt inclusions that clinopyroxene from basalts
