On the melt differentiation in the intermediate chamber (by the example of differentiated intrusives of the western slope of the Southern Urals)

open access: yesGeoresursy
The article provides materials on the analysis of the chemical composition of silicates and aluminosilicates that make up the differentiated body of the Misaelga complex, which made it possible by calculation methods to restore the thermobaric parameters

New knowledge about shock events that affected the L‐chondrite parent body from two heavily shocked L6 meteorite finds

open access: yesMeteoritics &Planetary Science, EarlyView.
Abstract We report new results from a study of shock‐related features in the L6 ordinary chondrites Northwest Africa (NWA) 4672 and NWA 12841. Our observations confirm the occurrence of eight high‐pressure (HP) minerals in each meteorite, namely, ringwoodite, majorite, akimotoite, wadsleyite, albitic jadeite, lingunite, tuite, and xieite.

Variations of clinopyroxene/melt element partitioning during assimilation of olivine/peridotite by low-Mg diorite magma

open access: yes, 2015
The effects of crystal chemistry and melt composition on the control of clinopyroxene/melt element partitioning (D) during the assimilation of olivine/peridotite by felsic magma have been investigated in Mesozoic high-Mg diorites from North China.

Polymict melt‐bearing breccia dikes in the Morokweng impact structure formed by slip‐induced mechanical mixing of pseudotachylite and cataclasite along large‐displacement impact faults

open access: yesMeteoritics &Planetary Science, EarlyView.
Abstract A core drilled through shocked and faulted Archean granitoid gneisses and dolerites in the eroded peak ring of the 70–80 km diameter Morokweng impact structure intersects multiple centimeter‐ to meter‐wide clastic‐matrix breccias containing a polymict clast population of lithic and mineral clasts and altered, millimeter‐ to centimeter ‐size ...

Magnetic anisotropy in clinopyroxene and orthopyroxene single crystals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Pyroxenes constitute an important component in mafic igneous and metamorphic rocks. They often possess a prismatic habit, and their long axis, the crystallographic c axis, helps define a lineation in a textured rock. Anisotropy of magnetic susceptibility

Impact‐diagnostic criteria for use in confirming a meteorite impact origin of terrestrial geological structures: Recommendations by the Impact Cratering Committee of the Meteoritical Society

open access: yesMeteoritics &Planetary Science, EarlyView.
Abstract The framework of the Impact Cratering Committee (ICC) of the Meteoritical Society was approved in 2020, with the first committee members appointed in 2023. The ICC has a mandate to (1) approve, maintain, and update a database of confirmed terrestrial meteorite impact structures, (2) define and regularly update the criteria used for ...

Mineralogical Mapping of Pyroxene and Anorthosite in Dryden Crater Using M3 Hyperspectral Data

open access: yesEngineering Proceedings
This study investigates the mineral composition of the lunar Dryden Crater using Moon Mineralogy Mapper (M3) data. A RGB false-color composite reveals distinct pyroxene, anorthosite, and possibly spinel distribution patterns.

LifeMet: Report on the 2024–2025 meteorite recovery expedition in Dronning Maud Land, Antarctica for the study of microbe–meteorite interactions

open access: yesMeteoritics &Planetary Science, EarlyView.
Abstract Since the discovery of nine meteorites near the Yamato mountains in 1969, Antarctica has been recognized as a superb location for meteorite recovery. While Antarctic recovery expeditions prioritize meteorite preservation for mineralogical and planetary studies, meteorites are not typically collected for biological applications.

FLUORINE PARTITIONING BETWEEN QUADRILATERAL CLINOPYROXENES AND MELT

open access: yesGeological Society of America Abstracts with Programs, 2020
Abstract Concentrations of fluorine and chlorine were measured in glasses (quenched melts) and coexisting clinopyroxene, orthopyroxene, olivine, and plagioclase in run products of experiments previously used to measure sulfur partitioning between these phases.

Mineral chemistry, thermobarometry and tectonomagmatic setting of Late-Cretaceous volcanic rocks from the Kojid area (south of Lahijan, northern Alborz) [PDF]

open access: yesپترولوژی, 2018
The volcanic rocks of Kojid area (south of Lahijan) crop out in northern Alborz. They show mainly pillow structure with numerous cross-cutting dykes. Based on lithostratigraphic relationships and interpillow pelagic limestones, the volcanics are Late ...
