Sodium partitioning between clinopyroxene and silicate melts
We present a quantitative model for Na partitioning between clinopyroxene and silicate melt, applicable in the range 0.1 MPa to 6.0 GPa, 1000–2000°C over a wide span of composition. Our model is derived from the Jadeite melting equilibrium, via the relationship ΔGƒ(P,T) = −RTlnKƒ = RTlnD*Na where ΔGƒ(P,T) is the Gibbs free energy of fusion of Jadeite ...

Abstract Low‐velocity layers (LVLs) above the 410‐km discontinuity are commonly attributed to partial melt generated by dehydration melting when hydrous mantle transition‐zone material rises into the upper mantle, where water solubility in nominally anhydrous minerals decreases.

An Evaluation of Garnet – Clinopyroxene Geothermometer
The garnet-clinopyroxene pair commonly found in upper amphibolite, granulite, and eclogite facies assemblage, as well as in garnet peridotites serves as a basic tool to estimate the equilibrium temperature for these metamorphic rocks. Several empirical and experimental calibrations for garnet-clinopyroxene thermometers have been proposed in the last ...

The clinopyroxenes of the Otaki dolerite sill
Three clinopyroxenes, separated from main dolerite and dolerite pegmatites of the Otaki sill (tholeiite series), Yamagata Prefecture, have been chemically analysed and optically determined. These pyroxenes are an augite (Wo36 En41 Fs23) and two subcalcic ferroaugites (Wo26 En36 Fs38 and Wo18 En34 Fs48).

Nanoscale solid-fluid interaction and amphibole formation in the lithospheric mantle
Nanoscale amphibole nucleation and growth in the Earth’s mantle is poorly understood despite its important role in the evolution and stability of the lithosphere, along with its influence on the coexisting fluid composition.

Xenoliths in the Early Cretaceous alkali basalts of Makhtesh Ramon basin (southern Israel) are represented by essentially olivine rocks: dunite (usually including clinopyroxen) - 5% of the total amount, lherzolite - 21%, wehrlite - 28%, clinopyroxenite -

Metamorphic conditions of dolomitic marbles from the Qori metamorphic complex, southern Sanandaj-Sirjan zone, using phase thermodynamic diagrams [PDF]
The Barrovian-Qori metamorphic complex, which is exposed in the southern part of the Sanandaj-Sirjan zone, has a succession of metaultramafic, metabasite, metapelite, metacalcic silicate, and marble lithological diversity.
