400-GHz Continuous-Wave Clinotron Oscillator

IEEE Transactions on Plasma Science, 2013
Experimental results of a 400-GHz clinotron, which is a modification of the backward-wave oscillator, are presented. Development of grating, focusing magnetic system, and electron gun is shown. The clinotron tube is designed to use a high-perveance electron gun and thereby enhance the output power and efficiency.

Compact THz Continuous-Wave Clinotron Oscillators

open access: yes2019 44th International Conference on Infrared, Millimeter, and Terahertz Waves (IRMMW-THz), 2019
Results of research and development of compact continuous wave clinotrons for THz applications are presented. The dependence of optimal phase shift per slow-wave structure period on the length of the system was investigated in 340 GHz continuous-wave (CW) clinotrons.

Clinotron-Based Synthesized Oscillatiors for THz-Regions

open access: yes2007 International Kharkiv Symposium Physics and Engrg. of Millimeter and Sub-Millimeter Waves (MSMW), 2007
Advances in the design, realization, and investigation of the clinotron-based synthesized oscillators for THz-regions are considered. A high output power level, a fast frequency sweep, and a high frequency resolution are the characteristic features of the oscillators.

On ohmic losses decrease in THz BWO-clinotron oscillators

open access: yes2013 38th International Conference on Infrared, Millimeter, and Terahertz Waves (IRMMW-THz), 2013
A novel oscillator with multistage grating is proposed in this paper. The capability of efficient millimeter and submillimeter wavelength generation is discussed. The prototype of W-band oscillator with nonuniform grating has been developed. The operating frequency range of 100 GHz is chosen due to significant influence of ohmic losses on the BWO ...

Potentials of the Clinotron for High-Power High-Frequency Generation

open access: yes28th European Microwave Conference, 1998, 1998
In this paper, a review is presented of both experimental and theoretical studies of the clinotron, which is an electron tube introduced for efficient operation in millimeter and submillimeter wavebands. Clinotron tubes already developed and fabricated for these wavebands are described, and the basic principles of their design and operation are ...

Clinotron effect in the amplification regimeon the following-traveling wave

open access: yes2012 International Conference on Actual Problems of Electron Devices Engineering, 2012
Clinotron effect in the amplification regime on the following-traveling wave was analysed. Numerical computation results show that clinotron effect improves the interaction efficiency in the system electron beam-following-traveling wave.

The oscillation adjustment in clinotron

Journal of Communications Technology and Electronics, 2014
Linear and nonlinear stages of the oscillation adjustment in a model of a source of millimeter-wavelength radiation (clinotron) are analyzed using the nonstationary theory of interaction in a system consisting of a thick electron beam and a backward wave.

Clinotron in the amplification mode

Journal of Communications Technology and Electronics, 2015
A self-consistent nonlinear theory for a clinotron model that takes into account static electron trajectories in the focusing magnetic field and the loss in the slow-wave structure, the clinotron amplification mode is analyzed for different ratios of the operating and starting currents, input signal levels, and the inclination angle of the electron ...
