400-GHz Continuous-Wave Clinotron Oscillator
IEEE Transactions on Plasma Science, 2013Experimental results of a 400-GHz clinotron, which is a modification of the backward-wave oscillator, are presented. Development of grating, focusing magnetic system, and electron gun is shown. The clinotron tube is designed to use a high-perveance electron gun and thereby enhance the output power and efficiency.

Following-wave amplification mode of a clinotron
Journal of Communications Technology and Electronics, 2016The following-wave amplification mode of a model of the clinotron with linear electron trajectories is studied in the framework of linear and nonlinear theories. It is demonstrated that the clinotron effect is absent in the linear mode, since the amplification factor is maximized at zero angle between the beam and the surface of the slow-wave structure.

Effect of Mode Transformation in THz Clinotron
Journal of Infrared, Millimeter, and Terahertz Waves, 2018Extension of the theory of a clinotron is developed by use of the scattering matrix of an oversized T-junction on the ends of a slow wave system. The matrix contains elements corresponding to the transformation of slow grating modes into fast ones and vice versa.

Mode Interaction in Clinotron with Periodically Modified Grating
2021 46th International Conference on Infrared, Millimeter and Terahertz Waves (IRMMW-THz), 2021The interaction of the modes with different variations along grating lamella occurring in a clinotron with periodically modified grating due to the profile of the clinotron circuit cross-section, has been studied. The simulation results demonstrate the interaction of the sheet electron beam with two modes, which differ in the transverse index, at the ...

Beam-wave interaction in 0.1 THz Clinotron
2011 International Conference on Infrared, Millimeter, and Terahertz Waves, 2011The electron beam interaction with the radio-frequency field (RF) close to the surface of the slow-wave structure of W-band Clinotron is studied by numerical simulations with regard to the real RF field distribution, for the inclined electron beam to the periodical slow-wave structure under small angle α.

Clinotron-Based Synthesized Oscillatiors for THz-Regions
2007 International Kharkiv Symposium Physics and Engrg. of Millimeter and Sub-Millimeter Waves (MSMW), 2007Advances in the design, realization, and investigation of the clinotron-based synthesized oscillators for THz-regions are considered. A high output power level, a fast frequency sweep, and a high frequency resolution are the characteristic features of the oscillators.

Analysis of the Clinotron Slow-Wave Structure
2006 International Conference on Mathematical Methods in Electromagnetic Theory, 2006The accurate model of the clinotron slow-wave structure is built on the basis of mode matching technique. The influence of the distance between the lamellar grating and the waveguide side wall is investigated.

Development of CW clinotron oscillator at 400 GHz
2012 International Conference on Mathematical Methods in Electromagnetic Theory, 2012Backward Wave Oscillators are the most established vacuum electronic devices for THz and near-THz applications. The most powerful of these VEDs are BWO-clinotrons. Design process of 400 GHz Clinotron and its magnetic focusing system using 3D and 2D electromagnetic computer codes is presented.

Prime study on dispersion of 0.3THz clinotron
2015 IEEE International Vacuum Electronics Conference (IVEC), 2015Based on the research of dispersion relationship and field distribution of clinotron theoretically, the resonator used for 0.3THz clinotron is designed. The mode distribution on transverse section area of optimum structure is analyzed, which is meaningful for the further development of 0.3THz clinotron.

Waveguide output for 130 GHz CW Clinotron
2016 9th International Kharkiv Symposium on Physics and Engineering of Microwaves, Millimeter and Submillimeter Waves (MSMW), 2016The numerical simulation of waveguide output of CW Clinotron is proposed. Also the results of trajectory analysis are presented in order to compare the results in the case of optimized and non optimized geometries. To consider the power dissipation at the shielding rods the simulation results of thermal distribution along the rods are presented.
