Physiologic and pathologic profiling of clonal variations

2019
This thesis sought to provide a better understanding of clonality in various malignant and non-malignant settings using a variety of genomic analytical tools. Clonality is pre-defined as the presence of a mixed population of cells in which each sub-population has distinct somatic mutation profile.

Clonal Variations in Pseudomonas aeruginosa

2006
The genetic diversity within a bacterial species is determined by the number and size of chromosomal and extrachromosomal elements, rates of nucleotide substitution, recombination, genome rearrangements and gene flow, and both the size and growth of the bacterial population. Most species of bacteria that were initially analyzed, were of a clonal nature.

Stability and variation in aphid clonal lineages

Biological Journal of the Linnean Society, 1979
Evidence in the literature purporting to show genetic variability within parthenogenetic lines of aphids is reviewed. The results of three experimental approaches to this problem are reported: (1) a long term study of fluctuation in alate morph production in six lines of Myzus persicae; (2) an attempt tp select for caudal hair form in Acyrthosiphon ...

Clonal and morphological variation in a posttransplant lymphoproliferative disorder: Evolution from clonal T-cell to clonal B-cell predominance

Human Pathology, 1998
The majority of posttransplant lymphoproliferative disorders (PTLD) are Epstein-Barr virus (EBV)-associated and of B-cell origin. A much smaller proportion of PTLD are of T-cell origin. We report the clinical, morphological, immunophenotypic, and genotypic results of a unique PTLD, initially diagnosed as immune mediated thrombocytopenia (ITP), which at

VICTree - A Variational Inference Method for Clonal Tree Reconstruction

Clonal tree inference brings crucial insights to the analysis of tumor heterogeneity and cancer evolution. Recent progress in single cell sequencing has prompted a demand for more advanced probabilistic models of copy number evolution, coupled with inference methods which can account for the noisy nature of the data along with dependencies between ...

Clonal variation in the Plasmodium falciparum circumsporozoite protein gene

Molecular and Biochemical Parasitology, 1991
The complete circumsporozoite (CSP) gene sequences of two clones derived from a single isolate are presented ...

Large-scale environmental niche variation between clonal and non-clonal plant species: Roles of clonal growth organs and ecoregions

Science of The Total Environment, 2019
Clonal plant species can produce genetically identical and potentially independent offspring, and dominate a variety of habitats. The divergent evolutionary mechanisms between clonal and non-clonal plants are interesting areas of ecological research.

Somaclonal Variation: The Myth of Clonal Uniformity

1985
The genomes of eukaryotes are in a dynamic state of flux. Nowhere is this more apparent than in higher plants, particularly under in vitro culture systems, where the amount of variability generated can be described as staggering. The nature and extent of the variation arising during culture highlights the apparent fragility of plant genomes when the ...

Clonal variation of cadmium response in human tumor cell lines

American Journal of Physiology-Cell Physiology, 1986
Subpopulations of human tumor-derived cell lines A101D, A204, and A549 were screened for Cd2+ cytotoxic response. Three of six A549, two of seven A101D, and four of seven A204 subpopulations were found to differ significantly from the parental line. A variant subpopulation of A101D (T3) was shown by flow cytometry to be comprised of cells having two ...

Clonal variation of DNA repair in a human glioma cell line

Radiotherapy and Oncology, 1991
Clonal heterogeneity in response to ionizing radiation was found for a human glioma cell line, IN859. We have investigated the most sensitive clone, the most resistant clone and the parent line for differences in DNA repair fidelity using the method of plasmid reconstitution. Significant differences in repair fidelity were found between the two clones,
