Clonal plasticity [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 11th International Symposium on Software Engineering for Adaptive and Self-Managing Systems, 2016
This paper introduces a new plant-inspired mechanism for decentralized adaptation, called clonal plasticity , which does not make use of the MAPE loop. The mechanism acts on ev- ery individual in a population and does not require central- ized control. The paper presents a case-study demonstrating its utility and feasibility in adaptation.

Multiple ETS family transcription factors bind mutant p53 via distinct interaction regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mutant p53 gain‐of‐function is thought to be mediated by interaction with other transcription factors. We identify multiple ETS transcription factors that can bind mutant p53 and found that this interaction can be promoted by a PXXPP motif. ETS proteins that strongly bound mutant p53 were upregulated in ovarian cancer compared to ETS proteins that ...

Clonal Composition of Human Adrenocortical Neoplasms [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
The mechanisms of tumorigenesis of adrenocortical neoplasms are still not understood. Tumor formation may be the result of spontaneous transformation of adrenocortical cells by somatic mutations.

Transcript-indexed ATAC-seq for precision immune profiling. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
T cells create vast amounts of diversity in the genes that encode their T cell receptors (TCRs), which enables individual clones to recognize specific peptide-major histocompatibility complex (MHC) ligands. Here we combined sequencing of the TCR-encoding

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Microenvironment-Driven Dynamic Heterogeneity and Phenotypic Plasticity as a Mechanism of Melanoma Therapy Resistance

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology, 2018
Drug resistance constitutes a major challenge in designing melanoma therapies. Microenvironment-driven tumor heterogeneity and plasticity play a key role in this phenomenon. Melanoma is highly heterogeneous with diverse genomic alterations and expression

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Pcr definition of b-cell clonality: which electrophoretic method is better

open access: yesТерапевтический архив, 2008
Aim. To compare diagnostic efficacy of B-cell clonality determination in application of different electrophoretic methods. Material and methods. B-cell clonality was determined with different techniques in 89 patients having B-cell lymphoma (n = 48), B ...

The clinical characteristics of autoimmune haemolytic anaemia/Evans syndrome patients with clonal immunoglobulin/T cell receptor gene rearrangement

open access: yesAutoimmunity, 2020
Objective To investigate the clinical features of AIHA/ES patients with clonal Ig/TCR gene rearrangement. Methods Ig/TCR gene rearrangements were measured by BIOMED-2 PCR. 44 primary AIHA/ES patients were enrolled in the study.
