Efficacy and Safety of Tribendimidine Against Clonorchis sinensis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
In this randomized open-label trial, tribendimidine was shown to have an efficacy comparable to praziquantel for the treatment of Clonorchis sinensis infection.

Transcriptome profiling of the fifth-stage larvae of Angiostrongylus cantonensis by next-generation sequencing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Angiostrongylus cantonensis is an important zoonotic nematode. It is the causative agent of eosinophilic meningitis and eosinophilic meningoencephalitis in humans. However, information of this parasite at the genomic level is very limited. In the present

Lipofuscin pigment in adult Clonorchis sinensis

open access: yesThe Korean Journal of Parasitology, 1983
Adult Clonorchis sinensis from infected human cases may have black pigment in their parenchyme. In present paper, the nature of the pigment was investigated. The pigment distributed in cytoplasm of parenchymal cells of the worms. Histochemically the pigment was positive by periodic acid-Schiff, Ziehl-Neelsen, and lipofuscin stainings.

Identification and characterization of Clonorchis sinensis cathepsin B proteases in the pathogenesis of clonorchiasis

open access: yesParasites & Vectors, 2015
Background Human clonorchiasis is a prevailing food-borne disease caused by Clonorchis sinensis infection. Functional characterizations of key molecules from C. sinensis could facilitate the intervention of C. sinensis associated diseases.

The Sunrise of Tertiary Lymphoid Structures in Cancer

open access: yesImmunological Reviews, Volume 332, Issue 1, July 2025.
ABSTRACT First considered as a negative epiphenomenon in autoimmune and inflammatory diseases, with possible deleterious consequences through the production of pathological autoantibodies and antiself T cells, tertiary lymphoid structures (TLS) have gained major scientific and clinical interest in cancer due to their association with better clinical ...

The endocytosis gene END3 is essential for the glucose-induced rapid decline of small vesicles in the extracellular fraction in Saccharomyces cerevisiae [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Background: Protein secretion is a fundamental process in all living cells. Gluconeogenic enzymes are secreted when Saccharomyces cerevisiae are grown in media containing low glucose.

Photodynamic therapy of cancer‐associated infections

open access: yesPhotochemistry and Photobiology, Volume 101, Issue 4, Page 833-845, July/August 2025.
Pathogens can be involved in tumor initiation, promotion and progression through different mechanisms, and their treatment can prevent new cancer cases, improve outcomes, and revert poor‐prognostic phenotypes. Photodynamic therapy (PDT) successfully treats different types of cancers and infections, and, therefore, has a unique potential to address ...

Marked mitochondrial genetic variation in individuals and populations of the carcinogenic liver fluke Clonorchis sinensis.

open access: yesPLoS Neglected Tropical Diseases, 2020
Clonorchiasis is a neglected tropical disease caused by the Chinese liver fluke, Clonorchis sinensis, and is often associated with a malignant form of bile duct cancer (cholangiocarcinoma).

Hypoxic and nitrosative stress conditions modulate expression of myoglobin genes in a carcinogenic hepatobiliary trematode, Clonorchis sinensis.

open access: yesPLoS Neglected Tropical Diseases, 2021
Despite recent evidence suggesting that adult trematodes require oxygen for the generation of bioenergy and eggshells, information on the molecular mechanism by which the parasites acquire oxygen remains largely elusive. In this study, the structural and
