Programming the Infant Gut: How Maternal and Early Life Nutrition Shape the Infant Microbiome and Long‐term Health—A Narrative Review

open access: yesMolecular Nutrition &Food Research, Volume 70, Issue 2, 29 January 2026.
Good nutrition in pregnancy and early life plays a key role in shaping the offspring gut microbiota, which supports healthy growth, immune maturation, and neurodevelopment. Poor maternal and early‐life diets can disrupt this process, increasing the risk of obesity, undernutrition, and disease later in life.

Metagenomic and PCR-based diversity surveys of [FeFe]-hydrogenases combined with isolation of alkaliphilic hydrogen-producing bacteria from the serpentinite-hosted Prony hydrothermal field, New Caledonia

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2016
High amounts of hydrogen are emitted in the serpentinite-hosted hydrothermal field of the Prony Bay (PHF, New Caledonia), where high-pH (~11), low-temperature (

Correlating Methane Production to Microbiota in Anaerobic Digesters Fed Synthetic Wastewater [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
A quantitative structure activity relationship (QSAR) between relative abundance values and digester methane production rate was developed. For this, 50 triplicate anaerobic digester sets (150 total digesters) were each seeded with different methanogenic

Novel Method for Collecting Skin Microbiome Samples From Free‐Ranging Bottlenose Dolphin

open access: yesMarine Mammal Science, Volume 42, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Cetacean skin microbiome samples are traditionally collected by swabbing the skin of captured animals or using skin tissue from remote biopsies. The effects of different sampling methods are not well understood, and factors such as swab type and storage methods may affect the microbiome.
