Tetanus as Cause of Mass Die-off of Captive Japanese Macaques, Japan, 2008
In 2008 in Japan, 15/60 captive Japanese macaques died. Clostridium tetani was isolated from 1 monkey, and 11 had tetanus-specific symptoms. We conclude the outbreak resulted from severe environmental C. tetani contamination.

Clinical Profile, Management and Outcome in Paediatric Patients with Tetanus: A Case Series [PDF]
Tetanus is an acute infectious disease, caused by spores of the bacterium Clostridium tetani. The spores are found everywhere in the environment, particularly in soil, ash, intestinal tracts/faeces of animals and humans, on the surfaces of skin and rusty

Structural and functional analysis of hypothetical and conserved proteins of Clostridium tetani
Summary: The progress in biological technologies has led to rapid accumulation of microbial genomic sequences with a vast number of uncharacterized genes. Proteins encoded by these genes are usually uncharacterized, hypothetical, and/or conserved.

An Unusual Case of Chronic Relapsing Tetanus Associated with Mandibular Osteomyelitis [PDF]
A 55-year-old man underwent radiation therapy due to malignant lymphoma of the neck. Eight years after the therapy he developed tetanus. It appears that the radiation therapy resulted in mandibular necrosis, and that this lesion may have been the ...

Spores of Clostridium engineered for clinical efficacy and safety cause regression and cure of tumors in vivo. [PDF]
Spores of some species of the strictly anaerobic bacteria Clostridium naturally target and partially lyse the hypoxic cores of tumors, which tend to be refractory to conventional therapies. The anti-tumor effect can be augmented by engineering strains to

A universal strategy for high-yield production of soluble and functional clostridial collagenases in E. coli [PDF]
Clostridial collagenases are foe and friend: on the one hand, these enzymes enable host infiltration and colonization by pathogenic clostridia, and on the other hand, they are valuable biotechnological tools due to their capacity to degrade various types
