Clubroot, caused by the soil-borne obligate biotroph Plasmodiophora brassicae Woronin, is one of the most serious diseases of Brassica worldwide. In Australia, it is responsible for losses of at least 10% in crucifer yield causing more than AU$ 17 million in lost profits every year.
