rpSPH: a novel Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics Algorithm

open access: yes, 2010
We suggest a novel discretisation of the momentum equation for Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) and show that it significantly improves the accuracy of the obtained solutions.

A Solution for Exosome‐Based Analysis: Surface‐Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy and Artificial Intelligence

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
Exosomes are emerging as powerful biomarkers for disease diagnosis and monitoring. This review highlights the integration of surface‐enhanced Raman spectroscopy with artificial intelligence to enhance molecular fingerprinting of exosomes. Machine learning and deep learning techniques improve spectral interpretation, enabling accurate classification of ...

Spatial-temporal characteristics of foliage clumping index in China during 2000–2013 [PDF]

open access: yesChinese Science Bulletin, 2016
The distribution of natural vegetation foliage is often clumped at different scales of three-dimensional structures such as shoots, branches, whorls, tree crowns, and tree groups. Clumping index (CI) quantifies the level of foliage grouping relative to a random distribution in space.

Toward Predictable Nanomedicine: Current Forecasting Frameworks for Nanoparticle–Biology Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
Predictive models successfully screen nanoparticles for toxicity and cellular uptake. Yet, complex biological dynamics and sparse, nonstandardized data limit their accuracy. The field urgently needs integrated artificial intelligence/machine learning, systems biology, and open‐access data protocols to bridge the gap between materials science and safe ...

Analysis of the Directional Characteristics of the Clumping Index (CI) Based on RAMI-V Canopy Scenes

open access: yesJournal of Remote Sensing
The vegetation canopy clumping index (CI) is an important indicator for understanding radiative transport processes, radiation interception, and the photosynthesis of vegetation canopies.

Understanding the Housing and Support Experience of People With Complex Disability in Australia: A Qualitative Analysis of Submissions to the Disability Royal Commission

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Social Issues, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In 2019, the Australian government established the Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability (‘Disability Royal Commission’, DRC) to investigate widespread mistreatment of people with disability. Nearly 10,000 people with disability, their families and supporters engaged with the DRC.

Impact of Spatial LAI Heterogeneity on Estimate of Directional Gap Fraction from SPOT-Satellite Data

open access: yesSensors, 2008
Directional gap probability or gap fraction is a basic parameter in the optical remote sensing modeling. Although some approaches have been proposed to estimate this gap probability from remotely sensed measurements, few efforts have been made to ...

Radiative Transfer in a Clumpy Universe: III. The Nature of Cosmological Ionizing Sources

open access: yes, 1998
The history of the transition from a neutral intergalactic medium (IGM) to one that is almost fully ionized can reveal the character of cosmological ionizing sources.

Inter- and intra-annual variations of clumping index derived from the MODIS BRDF product

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Earth Observation and Geoinformation, 2016
Abstract Clumping index quantifies the level of foliage aggregation, relative to a random distribution, and is a key structural parameter of plant canopies and is widely used in ecological and meteorological models. In this study, the inter- and intra-annual variations in clumping index values, derived from the Moderate Resolution Imaging ...

Co‐Opting MBNL‐Dependent Alternative Splicing Cassette Exons to Control Gene Therapy in Myotonic Dystrophy

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, EarlyView.
Objective Myotonic dystrophy type 1 (DM1) is a highly variable, multisystemic genetic disorder caused by a CTG repeat expansion in the 3′ untranslated region of DMPK. Toxicity is exerted by repeat‐containing DMPK transcripts that sequester muscleblind‐like (MBNL) proteins and lead to deleterious yet predictable changes in alternative splicing.
