Non-linear rheology of layered systems - a phase model approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We study non-linear rheology of a simple theoretical model developed to mimic layered systems such as lamellar structures under shear. In the present work we study a 2-dimensional version of the model which exhibits a Kosterlitz-Thouless transition in ...

Multi-channel Hybrid Access Femtocells: A Stochastic Geometric Analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
For two-tier networks consisting of macrocells and femtocells, the channel access mechanism can be configured to be open access, closed access, or hybrid access.

The effect of cluster thinning, cluster tipping, cluster shredding and defoliation at the flowering on the vegetative and generative vine performance from Kékfrankos Cv.

open access: yesInternational Journal of Horticultural Science, 2012
The cluster thinning is a method of the yield regulation. With the removal one part of the clusters, the yield pro leaf area will be lower, hereby the grape and wine quality will be improved. The regulation of the yield can lead to further advantages: the

Crop Load Management in Nashi Pear—A Review

open access: yesHorticulturae, 2022
Most nashi cultivars require heavy thinning, and this has traditionally been performed by the time and labour-intensive practice of hand thinning. Crop load management is a key cost driver for nashi production, but there are limited cost-effective ...

Quantifying clustering in disordered carbon thin films

open access: yesThin Solid Films, 2006
The quantification of disorder and the effects of clustering in the sp2 phase of amorphous carbon thin films are discussed. The sp2 phase is described in terms of disordered nanometer sized conductive sp2 clusters embedded in a less conductive sp3 matrix.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Effect of canopy management techniques on the nutritional quality of Montepulciano grapevine in Puglia (Southern Italy)

open access: yesOENO One, 2012
Aims: Tests were carried out to assess the effects of early defoliation, cluster thinning and cluster cutting on the basic and nutritional composition of musts and wines of Vitis vinifera L. cv. Montepulciano.

The effects of the summer pruning operations on the winter buds productivity of CV. Vranec (Vitis vinifera L.) [PDF]

open access: yesAgroznanje, 2017
The study presents the analysis of the influence of summer pruning operations (defoliation, cluster thinning) on the parameters of a potential productivity of winter buds at the vine variety Vranec grown near Veles in the period 2013-2015.

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.
