Exploring the synergistic effects of Life’s Essential 8, insulin resistance, and CRP on cardiometabolic multimorbidity risk

open access: yesFrontiers in Nutrition
BackgroundCardiometabolic multimorbidity (CMM) refers to the co-occurrence of two or more cardiometabolic diseases (CMDs), including coronary artery disease (CAD), stroke, and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), posing a substantial public health concern ...

First Zoeal Stage of the Snapping Shrimp Alpheus Fabricius, 1798 (Caridea: Alpheidae): New Description of Alpheus bouvieri A. Milne‐Edwards, 1878 and Literature Review

open access: yesActa Zoologica, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Based on adult morphological characters, the more than 300 species of Alpheus were divided into seven informal species groups, but some groups are not supported by molecular data. The aim here was to describe the zoea I of Alpheus bouvieri, and to do a review of the larval descriptions available in the literature, analysing whether the ...

A YAP-centered mechanotransduction loop drives collective breast cancer cell invasion

open access: yesNature Communications
Dense and aligned Collagen I fibers are associated with collective cancer invasion led by protrusive tumor cells, leader cells. In some breast tumors, a population of cancer cells (basal-like cells) maintain several epithelial characteristics and express

Identification of key process areas in the production on an e-capability maturity model for UK construction organisations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Uptake of e-procurement by construction organisations has been slow (Martin, 2008). Positive e-business achievements in other industries, point towards the potential for the construction industry to accomplish similar results.

Morphology and distribution of lakes under the Laurentide Ice Sheet: implications for ice flow dynamics

open access: yesBoreas, EarlyView.
This study examines the distribution and morphology of lakes under the Laurentide Ice Sheet (LIS) to investigate relationships with ice flow velocity, bedrock and basal thermal regime. Palaeo‐ice streams and lobes were important components of the LIS, and properties of lakes in those regions are quantified at high resolution.

Retinal Pigment Epitheliopathy due to Sub‐Optimal Recycling of Vitamin A (RESORVA): A Novel RDH11‐Related Phenotype

open access: yesClinical Genetics, EarlyView.
RDH11 is a minor isoenzyme that catalyses the oxidation of 11‐cis‐retinol to 11‐cis‐retinal in the retinal pigment epithelium, alongside RDH5 and RDH10. Biallelic null variants in RDH11 lead to upregulation of RDH5 and RDH10 (transcriptional adaptation), maintaining 11‐cis‐retinal bioavailability, but still causing Retinal Pigment Epitheliopathy due to
