Neuromorphic device architectures with global connectivity through electrolyte gating

open access: yesNature Communications, 2017
Global regulation of synaptic strengths in neural systems is known as homeoplasticity. Here, Gkoupideniset al. use an electrolyte to connect and control an array of organic electrochemical devices, in order to demonstrate behaviour that resembles ...

Research Update: Electrical monitoring of cysts using organic electrochemical transistors

open access: yesAPL Materials, 2015
Organotypic three-dimensional (3D) cell culture models have the potential to act as surrogate tissues in vitro, both for basic research and for drug discovery/toxicology.

Challenges and Opportunities in Multi‐Method Integrated Geophysical Prospection of Buried Building Remains at the Sanctuary of Olympia

open access: yesArchaeological Prospection, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Ancient Olympia was one of the most important sanctuaries and the venue for the Olympic Games in Greek and Roman times. Its remains are located in the Olympia Terrace (Peloponnese, Greece) at the present‐day confluence of the rivers Alpheios and Kladeos at the base of Mount Kronos.

Role of the stability of charge ordering in exchange bias effect in doped manganites

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
In this work we have carried out an elaborate study on the magnetic properties and investigated the exchange bias phenomena of some charge-ordered (CO) manganites. The detailed study of Sm1−x Ca x MnO3 (x = 0.5, 0.55, 0.6, 0.65, 0.7) compounds shows that

Kidney Hematopoietic Stem and Progenitor Cells Contribute to Myeloid Development and Pathology in Lupus Nephritis

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.
Objective The hematopoietic system maintains homeostasis by balancing myeloid and lymphoid cell production in the bone marrow (BM). In response to increased hematopoietic demand, extramedullary hematopoiesis (EMH) may occur in nonlymphoid organs. We investigated the role of EMH and kidney‐resident hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells (HSPCs) in ...

Arthroscopic Latarjet Using a 3 Anterior Portal Technique

open access: yesArthroscopy Techniques, EarlyView.
Abstract Arthroscopic Latarjet is technically challenging with a steep learning curve. Several limitations include the risk of malposition of the coracoid bone block, the risk of screw fixation, such as hardware failure and irritation, and the risk of neurological injury.

A Modular Nucleoside Kinase Cascade for the Synthesis of Ribonucleoside Triphosphates

open access: yesBiotechnology and Bioengineering, EarlyView.
Damm et al. report standardized enzymatic cascades for production of all canonical nucleoside triphosphates from the corresponding nucleosides, using kinase‐catalyzed phosphorylation from acetyl phosphate. Reactions afforded ∼ 100 mM product in near‐quantitative conversion.

Forecasting Airport Passenger Flows Using Mobile Network Data: Insights for Sustainable Mobility and Strategic Infrastructure Planning

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Airports are strategic and environmental nodes in global transport systems where rapid passenger growth challenges capacity, sustainability, and resilience. This study uses anonymized mobile network data to analyze and forecast passenger dynamics at Lisbon Airport, Portugal, linking data‐driven insights to sustainable mobility and ...
