Application of CMUT as immunosensor

2013 IEEE International Ultrasonics Symposium (IUS), 2013
Surface biofunctionalization of capacitive micromachined ultrasonic transducer (CMUT) based sensor can develop non-informative stress and elasticity, which are distorting sensor readings related with the mass of established immune complex. The prototype sensor calibration function, using polimethylmetacrylate (PMMA) films from 7 to 100 nm, was ...

Multi-row linear cMUT array using cMUTs and multiplexing electronics

2009 IEEE International Ultrasonics Symposium, 2009
A large area reconfigurable imaging array for research purposes is being developed with co-integrated cMUTs and control electronics. The goal is a 2.5cm 2D tileable module with ≫16,000 transducer sub-elements spaced at a pitch of 185um in X and Y dimensions.

Optimization of a Collapsed Mode CMUT Receiver for Maximum Off-Resonance Sensitivity [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Microelectromechanical Systems, 2018
We propose an airborne collapse capacitive micromachined ultrasonic transducer (CMUT) as a practical viable ultrasound transducer capable of providing a stable performance at the off-resonance frequencies.

Capacitance measurements of an SOI based CMUT

2013 IEEE 4th Latin American Symposium on Circuits and Systems (LASCAS), 2013
Capacitance measurement results for an SOI based CMUT are presented. Measurement results show that the variation in capacitance change as a function of both DC bias and AC excitation is considerably higher than analytically calculated values. Investigation shows that this deviation in capacitance from analytically calculated values is due to the ...

CMUT characterization by interferometric and electric measurements

IEEE Transactions on Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics and Frequency Control, 2009
Capacitive micromachined ultrasonic transducers (CMUTs) with 5.7 mum radius, realized by wafer bonding, have been characterized by both optical and electrical measurements. These measurements are performed by our heterodyne interferometer and a network analyzer, respectively. The results from this article will be used to improve the fabrication of next-

Electro-acoustical characterization procedure for cMUTs

Ultrasonics, 2005
A procedure for the electro-acoustical characterization in air of cMUTs is reported. First, the measured input electrical impedance of the transducer is used to calculate the transducer parameters at different bias voltages by fitting it with the Mason model. Then, the single membrane equivalent circuit can be calculated.

A finite difference model For cMUT devices

IEEE Transactions on Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics and Frequency Control, 2005
A finite difference method was implemented to simulate capacitive micromachined ultrasonic transducers (cMUTs) and compared to models described in the literature such as finite element methods. Similar results were obtained. It was found that one master curve described the clamped capacitance. We introduced normalized capacitance versus normalized bias

Multifrequency Interlaced CMUTs for Photoacoustic Imaging

IEEE Transactions on Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics, and Frequency Control, 2017
Multifrequency capacitive micromachined ultrasound transducers (CMUTs) are introduced consisting of interlaced 82- [Formula: see text] (low frequency) and 36- [Formula: see text] (high frequency) membranes. The membranes have been interlaced on a scale smaller than the shortest wavelength of operation allowing several advantages over other ...

Analysis and design of dual-electrode CMUTs

IEEE Ultrasonics Symposium, 2005., 2006
Dual-electrode CMUTs are analyzed using analytical and finite element methods. The analysis results that show improved transmit and receive performance are verified by experiments. We conducted experiments to investigate the effect of side electrode biasing on both the magnitude and the frequency spectrum of the received signals.

CMUT array modeling through free acoustic CMUT modes and analysis of the fluid CMUT interface through Fourier transform methods

IEEE Transactions on Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics and Frequency Control, 2005
A method for analyzing capacitive micromachined ultrasonic transducer (CMUT) arrays and arrays of elements composed of several CMUTs is proposed. It is based on a combination of a free acoustic mode description of an isolated CMUT, and the coupling of these modes to the fluid in which waves should be excited or detected through an impedance matrix that
