Modelling the Kinetics of Biogas Production From Mesophilic Anaerobic Co-Digestion of Cow Dung with Plantain Peels [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
This work investigated the effect of plantain peels as co-substrate in the anaerobic digestion of cow dung for efficient and high biogas production. The biogas experiments were carried out in two different 5 L anaerobic digesters and incubated for 40 ...

Interaction of HS1BP3 with cortactin modulates TKS5 localisation, cell secretion and cancer malignancy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Here, we demonstrate that HS1BP3 interacts with Cortactin through a proline‐rich region (PRR3.1) and show that this interaction, and HS1BP3 itself, promote cancer cell proliferation and invasion. Inhibition of this interaction leads to build‐up of TKS5 in multivesicular endosomes and altered secretion of CD63 and CD9, providing an explanation for the ...

Anaerobic co-digestion technology in solid wastes treatment for biomethane generation

open access: yesInternational Journal of Sustainable Energy, 2017
Anaerobic co-digestion is considered to be an efficient way of disposing solid wastes which can not only reduce environmental burden, but also produce bioenergy.

Co-digestion of mixed sewage sludge and fruit and vegetables wastes effect of different mixtures on biogas yield [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Disposal of fruit and vegetable wastes (FVWs) in landfill site cause serious environmental issues such as contamination of soil, air and ground water.

Assessment of different pre-treatment methods for the removal of limonene in citrus waste and their effect on methane potential and methane production rate [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The objective of this study was to assess the limonene removal efficiency of three pre-treatment methods when applied to citrus waste and to evaluate their effects on the biochemical methane potential (BMP) and the methane production rate (MPR) using

Down‐regulation of Shh in the hair follicles of mice during chemotherapy‐induced hair loss is mediated by the JAK/STAT1 signaling pathway

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We found that during chemotherapy‐induced alopecia (CIA), Sonic hedgehog (Shh) expression significantly decreased in hair follicle Shh+ cells, whereas the Janus‐activated kinase/signal transducer and activator of transcription 1 (JAK/STAT1) signaling pathway was markedly activated.

Comparison of Methane Production from Bench- and Sub Pilot-Scale Anaerobic Digesters [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Design and construction of full-scale anaerobic digesters that co-digest manure with other substrates, such as food processing wastes, is challenging because of the large number of potential mixtures that can be fed to the digester.

Engineering tandem VHHs to target different epitopes to enhance antibody‐dependent cell‐mediated cytotoxicity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Tandem VHH targeting distinct EGFR epitopes were engineered into a monovalent bispecific antibody (7D12‐EGA1‐Fc) with more potent ADCC without increasing affinity to EGFR. Structural modeling of 7D12‐EGA1‐Fc showed cross‐linking of separate EGFR domains to enhance CD16a engagement on NK cells.

Synergistic and Pretreatment Effect on Anaerobic Co-Digestion from Rice Straw and Municipal Sewage Sludge

open access: yesBioResources, 2014
Anaerobic digestion is considered to be a priority disposal technology for rice straw and sewage sludge. In this study, the synergistic and alkali-treat effect on co-digestion of rice straw and sewage sludge was investigated.
