Case Series: EGFR and ROS-1 Co-Occurrence in Advanced Non–Small Cell Lung Cancer [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Immunotherapy and Precision Oncology
Non–small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is a heterogeneous disease with diverse molecular alterations. Two of the most common genetic abnormalities found in advanced NSCLC are mutations in the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and rearrangements in the ...

Industrial Structure and a Tradeoff Between Productivity and Economic Resilience

open access: yesStudies in Business and Economics, 2022
The structures of regional economies play a critical role in determining both a region’s productivity and its resilience to shocks. We extend previous work on the regional occupation and skills structure by analyzing the effect of a region’s industry ...

Texture Characterization Using Shape Co-Occurrence Patterns [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Image Processing, 2017
Texture characterization is a key problem in image understanding and pattern recognition. In this paper, we present a flexible shape-based texture representation using shape co-occurrence patterns. More precisely, texture images are first represented by tree of shapes, each of which is associated with several geometrical and radiometric attributes ...

Integrated genomic and proteomic profiling reveals insights into chemoradiation resistance in cervical cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A comprehensive genomic and proteomic analysis of cervical cancer revealed STK11 and STX3 as a potential biomarkers of chemoradiation resistance. Our study demonstrated EGFR as a therapeutic target, paving the way for precision strategies to overcome treatment failure and the DNA repair pathway as a critical mechanism of resistance.

Modeling hepatic fibrosis in TP53 knockout iPSC‐derived human liver organoids

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study developed iPSC‐derived human liver organoids with TP53 gene knockout to model human liver fibrosis. These organoids showed elevated myofibroblast activation, early disease markers, and advanced fibrotic hallmarks. The use of profibrotic differentiation medium further amplified the fibrotic signature seen in the organoids.

The Toponym Co-Occurrence Index: A New Method to Measure the Co-Occurrence Characteristics of Toponyms

open access: yesISPRS International Journal of Geo-Information
Toponym groups are fundamental units of quantitative spatial analysis of toponyms. Using suitable technical methods to investigate the spatial distribution and co-occurrence characteristics of these groups has significant implications for identifying ...

Agricultural management and plant selection interactively affect rhizosphere microbial community structure and nitrogen cycling. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
BACKGROUND:Rhizosphere microbial communities are key regulators of plant performance, yet few studies have assessed the impact of different management approaches on the rhizosphere microbiomes of major crops.

PYCR1 inhibition in bone marrow stromal cells enhances bortezomib sensitivity in multiple myeloma cells by altering their metabolism

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study investigated how PYCR1 inhibition in bone marrow stromal cells (BMSCs) indirectly affects multiple myeloma (MM) cell metabolism and viability. Culturing MM cells in conditioned medium from PYCR1‐silenced BMSCs impaired oxidative phosphorylation and increased sensitivity to bortezomib.
