Assessing effectiveness of serious game training designed to assist in upper limb prosthesis rehabilitation

open access: yesFrontiers in Rehabilitation Sciences
IntroductionControlling a myoelectric upper limb prosthesis is difficult, therefore training is required. Since training with serious games showed promising results, the current paper focuses on game design and its effectivity for transfer between in ...

Implementation of thermal and fuel stratification strategies to extend the load limit of HCCI engine

open access: yesJournal of Thermal Science and Technology, 2019
The HCCI engine can be a possible potential engine technology that gives high performance with fewer dangerous exhaust emissions. In HCCI engines, low-temperature combustion of lean, highly premixed charge effectively reduces the NOX and soot.

Linking neurogenesis, oligodendrogenesis, and myelination defects to neurodevelopmental disruption in primary mitochondrial disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.

GDNF‐RET signaling drives pulmonary neuroendocrine cell hyperplasia and allergic airway inflammation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A neuroimmune interaction centered on the PNEC‐ILC2 axis in an asthma model. PNEC‐derived CGRP activates nearby ILC2s, which then release cytokines, including IL‐5 and IL‐13. These cytokines promote eosinophil and macrophage infiltration. Subsequently, GDNF produced by these cells induces PNEC hyperplasia via the GDNF receptors, RET and GFRα1 ...

Potential therapeutic targeting of BKCa channels in glioblastoma treatment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review summarizes current insights into the role of BKCa and mitoBKCa channels in glioblastoma biology, their potential classification as oncochannels, and the emerging pharmacological strategies targeting these channels, emphasizing the translational challenges in developing BKCa‐directed therapies for glioblastoma treatment.

Structure of a 13-fold superhelix (almost) determined from first principles

open access: yesIUCrJ, 2015
Nuclear hormone receptors are cytoplasm-based transcription factors that bind a ligand, translate to the nucleus and initiate gene transcription in complex with a co-activator such as TIF2 (transcriptional intermediary factor 2).

Cell surface interactome analysis identifies TSPAN4 as a negative regulator of PD‐L1 in melanoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using cell surface proximity biotinylation, we identified tetraspanin TSPAN4 within the PD‐L1 interactome of melanoma cells. TSPAN4 negatively regulates PD‐L1 expression and lateral mobility by limiting its interaction with CMTM6 and promoting PD‐L1 degradation.

Equi‐MOI ratio for rapid baculovirus‐mediated multiprotein co‐expression in insect cells integrating selenomethionine for structural studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio
Proteins often co‐exist as multicomponent assemblies, making their co‐expression essential in recombinant production processes. The baculovirus expression vector system is commonly used to produce recombinant multiprotein complexes mostly for structural ...
