Beamforming with extended co-prime sensor arrays

2013 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing, 2013
Co-prime sensor arrays (CSAs) interleave two uniform linear subarrays that are undersampled by co-prime factors. The resulting nonuniform array requires far fewer sensors to match the spatial resolution of a fully populated ULA of the same aperture.

Co-prime array processing with sum and difference co-array

2015 49th Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems and Computers, 2015
Among various sparse-array techniques, co-prime array is found to be more attractive because of its high efficiency and simplicity. In this paper, we propose a scheme that can exploit both sum and difference co-arrays to form a larger size of continuous virtual array while keeping the conventional co-prime array configuration.

Compressive beamforming with co-prime arrays

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2014
The results of compressive beamforming using arrays formed by Nyquist, co-prime samplers, Wichmann rulers, and Golomb rulers are shown along with forms of array gain, resolution and latency as measures of performance. Results will be shown for the idea case of few sources with Gaussian amplitudes in spatially white Gaussian white noise.

Multiple source localization with moving co-prime arrays

2015 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP), 2015
In this paper, we explore the use of temporal signal coherence to increase the degrees of freedom in a non-uniform under-sampled linear moving array. In particular, we develop bounds on the minimum Temporal-Coherence-Period (TCP) required to synthetically fill-in missing inter-element sensors in a moving array system.

Dynamic formulation of co-prime array for DOA estimation

2016 50th Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems and Computers, 2016
Among various sparse array techniques, co-prime array is found to be more attractive because its higher DoF with a smaller number of sensing elements. However, because of its specific physical non-uniform linear structure, it would be inconvenient and costly to implement in the presence of varying detection scenarios.

Stochastic resolution analysis of co-prime arrays in radar

2016 IEEE Statistical Signal Processing Workshop (SSP), 2016
Resolution from co-prime arrays and from a full ULA of the size equal to the virtual size of co-prime arrays is investigated. We take into account not only the resulting beam width but also the fact that fewer measurements are acquired by co-prime arrays. This fact is relevant in compressive acquisition typical for compressive sensing.

Nonnegative gridless compressive sensing for co-prime arrays

2016 IEEE Global Conference on Signal and Information Processing (GlobalSIP), 2016
The direction-of-arrival estimation in co-prime arrays is formulated as gridless compressive sensing where the atoms can be anywhere in a continuous domain. A new algorithm, successive-atom-merging cyclic coordinate descent for atomic norm minimization, is proposed.

Sensitivity of co-prime arrays to shape perturbation

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2013
Co-prime arrays offer savings in both implementation and computation by reducing the number of array elements. For passive beamforming, a pair of specially-spaced sparse arrays organized as a co-prime array provides unambiguous source bearings through the cancellation of the grating lobes inherent in the pattern response of each array if processed by ...

Co-prime linear arrays with dipole elements

2016 IEEE Middle East Conference on Antennas and Propagation (MECAP), 2016
In this paper, we study the characteristics of linear co-prime arrays (CPAs) from an array factor (AF) perspective. We start by deriving an exact expression for the array factor and compare it with the approximate formula in [1] as well as that of a uniform linear array (ULA).

DOA Estimation with Co-Prime Arrays Based on Multiplicative Beamforming

2018 9th International Symposium on Telecommunications (IST), 2018
Co-Prime Sensor Array (CSA) is a form of sparse sensing has been recently introduced as an effective configuration in direction of arrival (DOA) estimation. Since the intercessor spacing is greater than the one-half wavelength, the CSA has the drawback of generating grating lobes in power pattern.
