Passive Drag Reduction Optimization for Complex Commercial Vehicle Models [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Fluid Mechanics
The long-distance transportation of heavy commercial vehicles is facing increasing pressure. Low wind resistance and low fuel consumption will become the objective requirements and development trend of heavy commercial vehicles.

PyCARL: A PyNN Interface for Hardware-Software Co-Simulation of Spiking Neural Network

open access: yes, 2020
We present PyCARL, a PyNN-based common Python programming interface for hardware-software co-simulation of spiking neural network (SNN). Through PyCARL, we make the following two key contributions.

Research on the Volumetric Efficiency of a Novel Stacked Roller 2D Piston Pump

open access: yesMachines, 2021
In order to improve the volumetric efficiency of the axial piston pump, this paper proposes a novel stacked roller 2D piston pump. It utilizes the alternate communication between the distribution cylinder and the oil intake and discharge ports of the ...

Vortexje - An Open-Source Panel Method for Co-Simulation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
This paper discusses the use of the 3-dimensional panel method for dynamical system simulation. Specifically, the advantages and disadvantages of model exchange versus co-simulation of the aerodynamics and the dynamical system model are discussed.

Error Analysis and Error Estimates for Co-simulation in FMI for Model Exchange and Co-Simulation v2.0 [PDF]

open access: yesArchive of Mechanical Engineering, 2013
Complex multi-disciplinary models in system dynamics are typically composed of subsystems. This modular structure of the model reflects the modular structure of complex engineering systems. In industrial applications, the individual subsystems are often modelled separately in different mono-disciplinary simulation tools.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Experimental and Co-Simulation Performance Evaluation of an Earth-to-Air Heat Exchanger System Integrated into a Smart Building

open access: yesEnergies, 2022
Building models and their connected subsystems are often simulated as standalone entities. However, in order to monitor a system′s reactions to changing parameters and to assess its energy efficiency, it must be exposed to the actual dynamic context of ...

Minimally Constrained Stable Switched Systems and Application to Co-simulation

open access: yes, 2018
We propose an algorithm to restrict the switching signals of a constrained switched system in order to guarantee its stability, while at the same time attempting to keep the largest possible set of allowed switching signals.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.
