Water-in-oil emulsions of crude oil can present high viscosity, requiring techniques to viabilize their exploration and flow. As an alternative, oil-in-water microemulsions can be added on petroleum emulsions.

Roundup causes high levels of mortality following contact exposure in bumble bees
Surfactants, or other co‐formulants, in herbicides and other pesticides may contribute to global bee declines. We recommend that, as a precautionary measure until co‐formulant identities are made public, label guidelines for all pesticides be altered to explicitly prohibit application to plants when bees are likely to be foraging on them.

Techniques for Steamflooding improvement [PDF]
One of the main challenges in developing a process of continuous steam injection is to control the injection profile. Said profile is strongly affected by steam channeling to “thief zones” and the gravitational effect of override, both are characterized ...

Physical chemical properties and kinetics of redox processes in water/soybean oil microemulsions [PDF]
Water/oil microemulsions (w/o ME) constituted by water, soybean oil, SDS (sodium dodecyl sulfate) and several short-chain alcohols were characterized from the viewpoint of its physical-chemical and electroanalytical properties.

Automated system to acquire fluorescence, polarization and anisotropy maps within liquid flows
Maps of polarization and anisotropy can be helpful for flow analysis systems (FIA, CFA, etc.) with reactions dependent on the intermolecular alignment as well as for dispersion control. Maps can be acquired manually, but when a scan over a sample area is required, the acquisition becomes tiresome and has low precision.
