Diode laser spectroscopy of carbon and oxygen stable isotopes in CO2
Optical Society of America Annual Meeting, 1991Using tunable diode lasers it is possible to resolve individual rovibrational spectral lines within the vibrational bands of carbon dioxide and measure their absorbance. These measurements can be used to determine CO2 gas concentration and isotopic ratios of 13C/12C and 18O/16O.

Anode heating in an intense ion beam diode with a CO2 laser
Applied Physics Letters, 1984In order to accelerate intense ion beams, we heat the anode of a pinch-reflex diode with a CO2 laser. At laser power densities of 1010 W/cm2 over a 2-mm focal spot, we demonstrate that gap closure is avoided and that ion efficiency is increased by at least a factor 3 over diode operation without the laser.

Diode Laser-based Sensor for High Precision Measurements of Ambient CO2
Laser Applications to Chemical, Security and Environmental Analysis, 2008We report on the development of a high precision sensor for monitoring ambient CO2. Our TDL ICOS absorption spectrometer operates at 2 µm and achieves a precision of 1:3000 for the CO2 mixing ratio.
