Water Activity Regulates CO2 Reduction in Gas-Diffusion Electrodes

open access: yes, 2021
Electrochemical CO2 reduction has recently reached current densities as high as 1 A cm-2, enabled by improving diffusion of CO2 from the gas phase to the electrocatalyst by use of gas-diffusion electrodes (GDEs) and by improving electrolyte ionic ...

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

New possibility for PET plastic recycling by a tailored hydrolytic enzyme

open access: yesGreen Energy & Environment
Plastic waste puts a huge burden on the ecosystem due to the current lack of mature recycling technology. Poly (ethylene terephthalate) (PET) is one of the most produced plastics in the world.

Photocatalysts for CO2 reduction and computational insights

open access: yesFuel, 2023
Global warming is caused by excessive CO production, and reducing CO emissions is a viable way to counteract this. It has been extensively studied how light-driven processes, particularly photocatalytic systems, can transform solar energy into chemical energy. In the present review exercise, the mechanism of CO reduction is described using calculations

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

Septin 9 PB domains coordinate centrosome positioning and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...
