The Synergism Effect Of Cefepime And Vancomycin Against Coagulse Positive And Negative Methiciline Resistant Staphylococci [PDF]

open access: yesپیاورد سلامت, 2012
Background and Aim: Although vancomycine is used for the treatment of methicillin resistant Staphylococci, but vancomycine alone might not be effective for the treatment of methicillin resistant Staphylococci in compromised host.

Interspecies Biofilm Dynamics Among Staphylococci: Inflammatory Contributions to Chronic Rhinosinusitis

open access: yesInternational Forum of Allergy &Rhinology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Staphylococcus species are frequently isolated from the sinonasal niche of chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) patients. While Staphylococcus aureus is often associated with recalcitrant CRS, Staphylococcus epidermidis and Staphylococcus lugdunensis are largely deemed commensal.

Quorum-sensing control of sepsis in the coagulase-negative staphylococcal species Staphylococcus haemolyticus

open access: yesCell Reports
Summary: Quorum sensing is often proposed as a target for antivirulence drug development against bacterial pathogens. Coagulase-negative staphylococci are leading causes of nosocomial blood infections and associated mortality.

Antimicrobial Resistance in Coagulase-Negative Staphylococci [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Medical Microbiology, 1985
Patterns of resistance to antimicrobial agents were studied in 193 strains of coagulase-negative staphylococci isolated from hospital patients. Strains isolated from patients with malignant disease were significantly more often resistant to sulphonamide, trimethoprim, gentamicin and methicillin than were strains from other sources.

Optimizing germination and cultivation of edible halophytes using effluents from an IMTA system

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, EarlyView.
Abstract BACKGROUND Halophytes offer nature‐based solutions to food insecurity and soil degradation, while their integration into integrated multi‐trophic aquaculture (IMTA) systems promotes circular economy practices. This study aimed to optimize the germination and cultivation of edible halophytic species, namely Limbarda crithmoides, Suaeda vera and

Right-sided endocarditis from Staphylococcus lugdunensis in a patient with tetralogy of Fallot

open access: yesInfectious Disease Reports, 2019
Infective endocarditis is often caused by bacterial pathogens and can affect native and prosthetic tissue. Common pathogens in pediatric patients include Staphylococcus aureus, viridans group streptococci, enterococcal species and coagulase-negative ...

Main effects of ascorbic acid levels and organic acid type on physicochemical properties, microbial populations, texture, and biogenic amine formation in sucuk

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, EarlyView.
Abstract BACKGROUND Sucuk is a traditional Turkish dry fermented sausage, the quality and safety of which depend on physicochemical, microbiological, and biochemical changes during fermentation and ripening. Organic acids, their salts, and antioxidants such as ascorbic acid (AA) are widely used in fermented meat products; however, information about ...

Admission Plasma Lipopolysaccharide‐binding protein, Procalcitonin, and Lactate for Early Identification of Nosocomial Infection in Cirrhotic Patients With Upper Gastrointestinal Bleeding: A Retrospective Analysis

open access: yesThe Kaohsiung Journal of Medical Sciences, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study aimed to assess whether admission plasma lipopolysaccharide‐binding protein (LBP), procalcitonin (PCT), and lactate could improve detection of nosocomial infection in cirrhotic patients presenting with upper gastrointestinal bleeding (UGIB).

Microbiological quality of goat milk on rural properties in the region of Macaíba/RN

open access: yesRevista do Instituto de Latícinios Cândido Tostes, 2018
Goat’s milk is an excellent food that can guarantee beneficial effects to human health, but its characteristics are easily altered by the action of microorganisms and by manipulation.

Clinical significance of coagulase-negative staphylococci [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Microbiology, 1982
Although coagulase-negative staphylococci (C-NS) have been implicated in certain human infections, they are generally regarded as contaminants, and their clinical significance is questioned. To assess their role as pathogens, we studied 205 isolates of C-NS from wounds and body fluids (blood, urine, pleural and peritoneal fluids, etc.).
