Antimicrobial Resistance in Coagulase-Negative Staphylococci [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Medical Microbiology, 1985
Patterns of resistance to antimicrobial agents were studied in 193 strains of coagulase-negative staphylococci isolated from hospital patients. Strains isolated from patients with malignant disease were significantly more often resistant to sulphonamide, trimethoprim, gentamicin and methicillin than were strains from other sources.

A standardized surgical technique for DAIR improves treatment success rates in acute periprosthetic knee infection

open access: yesKnee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose Results after debridement, antibiotics and implant retention (DAIR) for acute periprosthetic knee joint infections (PJIs) vary widely. Although data are limited, surgeon expertise and surgical technique likely influence outcomes. Standardized DAIR performed by surgeons within a multidisciplinary team (MDT) dedicated to the treatment of

Detection of mecA gene-associated methicillin-resistance coagulase-negative staphylococci (MRCoNS) from bovine mastitis in Gujarat

open access: yesIndian Journal of Animal Sciences, 2022
Exploration of pathogenic potential of Coagulase-Negative Staphylococci (CoNS), in human as well as animals, gained the importance during the past two decades.

Clinical significance of coagulase-negative staphylococci [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Microbiology, 1982
Although coagulase-negative staphylococci (C-NS) have been implicated in certain human infections, they are generally regarded as contaminants, and their clinical significance is questioned. To assess their role as pathogens, we studied 205 isolates of C-NS from wounds and body fluids (blood, urine, pleural and peritoneal fluids, etc.).

Epidemiological profile of linezolid-resistant coagulase-negative staphylococci

open access: yes, 2006
Background. Surveillance studies have shown that < 0.1% of coagulase-negative staphylococci are linezolid resistant; however, at our institution, 4% of such organisms were found to be resistant.

Bacteriophage typing of coagulase-negative staphylococci [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Microbiology, 1979
Cultures comprising the 10 species of coagulase-negative staphylococci proposed by Kloos and Schleifer (J. Clin. Microbiol. 1:82--88, 1975) were typed with bacteriophages isolated from Staphylococcus epidermidis. Although only 10.5% were typable, 50% of those identified as S. epidermidis were typed.

Impact of Gentamicin‐Impregnated Collagen Sponge on the Incidence of Access Related Infections After Full‐Support Microaxial Flow Pump Therapy

open access: yesArtificial Organs, EarlyView.
Local application of gentamicin for wound closure after full‐support microaxial flow pump therapy. ABSTRACT Background Surgically implanted microaxial flow pumps (mAFP) are increasingly used for cardiogenic shock treatment. Standard mAFP explantation is performed bedside with a shortening of the vascular prosthesis, which may represent a potential ...

Neonatal Sepsis due to Coagulase-Negative Staphylococci

open access: yesClinical and Developmental Immunology, 2013
Neonates, especially those born prematurely, are at high risk of morbidity and mortality from sepsis. Multiple factors, including prematurity, invasive life-saving medical interventions, and immaturity of the innate immune system, put these infants at ...
