A model for the initiation of coal-gas outbursts

In an attempt to model the initiation of a coal-gas outburst, the author discusses the mechanics of a porous rock medium in which the capillaries are filled with a gaseous substance. This gas can undergo capillary condensation, and thus the medium exists in a 3-phase state of solid, liquid and gas.

Coal damage mechanism in the developing process of coal and gas outburst

Based on the damage analysis of elliptical aperture, the mechanism of coal damage in the developing process of coal and gas outburst was researched. The results show that the damage to coal by gas is mainly caused by the concentrated tensile stress appearing near the endpoint of the pores.
