Multifluid modeling of the desulfurization process within a bubbling fluidized bed coal gasifier
The desulfurization process to a two-dimensional (2-D) and three-dimensional (3-D) Eulerian-Eulerian computational fluid dynamic (CFD) model of a coal bubbling fluidized gasifier is introduced.

Influence of Particle Size, Moisture, and Cloud Density on Wood Dust Ignition
The ignition and combustion of particle clouds are strongly affected by particle interactions. This study uses spectroscopy to examine effects of particle size, water content, and cloud density. Results show ignition delay rises with larger size and density, whereas combustion duration depends mainly on water and density due to moisture‐driven ...

Global and Detailed Calculation of Tube Wall Temperature in a Process Furnace Steam Superheater
This study presents a comparison between an iterative global model and multiple approaches to a new non‐iterative model with the purpose of predicting tube wall temperature of a superheater. The results show that the non‐iterative method achieves sufficient accuracy while improving the prediction of local temperature distribution and better ...

Large-scale studies of spontaneous combustion of coal [PDF]
"The U.S. Bureau of Mines constructed a large-scale facility to study the self-heating of a large coal mass under conditions that simulate a gob area of a mine. The insulated coal chamber can hold up to 13 short tons of coal and is provided with a forced

Control of Trace Metal Emissions During Coal Combustion
Emissions of toxic trace metals in the form of metal fumes or submicron particulate from a coal-fired combustion source have received greater environmental and regulatory concern over the past years.

Prospective LCA of E‐Methanol Along the Transformation of Steel Industry
The environmental effects of change in steel production route on e‐methanol production are analyzed as they shift from blast furnace route to direct reduction route. Specific hydrogen demand reduces, as do the avoided CO2 emissions. E‐methanol's overall carbon footprint stays in a narrow range of −1 to −1.1 kg‐CO2‐eq./kg‐methanol.
