Numerical analysis of loads effect on combustion performance and NO x emissions of a 220 MW pulverized coal boiler

open access: yes, 2012
This paper presents numerical study on the combustion performance and NOx emissions of a 220 MW pulverized coal boiler. Three different loads have been simulated with combusting coal, 200MW, 170MW and 140MW respectively.

Microwave‐assisted catalytic pyrolysis of textile wastes: Synergistic effects and product characteristics

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
Abstract This study examines the microwave‐assisted catalytic pyrolysis (MACP) of individual and blended textiles (cotton, polyester, nylon 6) using ZnO and a ZnO/natural zeolite catalyst. In a custom‐built microwave reactor operated at 500°C, 1 kW power, and a 15‐min residence time, textile wastes were pyrolyzed.

Ash characteristics during co-incineration with industrial organic solid waste in a large-scale municipal solid waste incinerator

open access: yesInternational Journal of Coal Science & Technology
In recent years, the co-incineration with industrial organic solid waste (IOSW) in municipal solid waste (MSW) incinerators has been an effective method for addressing MSW volume deficiencies and expediting IOSW disposal.

Experimental study on the catalytic effect of AAEMs on NO reduction during coal combustion in O2/CO2 atmosphere

open access: yesCarbon Capture Science & Technology
During oxy-fuel combustion, the NO emission can be inhibited by the strongly reductive atmosphere caused by the high proportion of gasification reaction, which is a unique feature that differs from air combustion.

Application of artificial neural network and general machine learning modelling on CO2 adsorption in moisture equilibrated South African high and medium rank coals

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
Abstract This study investigates the effect of moisture on CO2 adsorption in South African coals using both experimental and machine learning approaches. Three coal samples (SL, TN, and EM) with varying ranks (RoVmr: 3.49%, 1.26%, and 0.64%, respectively) were collected from different regions of South Africa.

A novel bubbling fluid bed reactor for the autothermal pyrolysis of waste plastics

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
Abstract A new pilot‐scale fluidized bed reactor operated under continuous conditions was developed and tested for the thermal pyrolysis of high‐density polyethylene (HDPE). The study focused on assessing the reliability and operability of the system under different operating conditions (400–550°C), while monitoring mass and energy balances, product ...
