In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Use of Rapid Qualitative Analysis to Support Collaborative Synergy Within a Community Coalition for Health Equity in Detroit

open access: yesHealth Equity
Introduction: A community coalition is an effective strategy for addressing complex health challenges. A citywide coalition of community and academic experts was formed to address Detroit’s persistent health disparities.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Stable Coalition Structures in Simple Games with Veto Control [PDF]

open access: yes
In this paper we study hedonic coalition formation games in which players' preferences over coalitions are induced by a semi-value of a monotonic simple game with veto control. We consider partitions of the player set in which the winning coalition ...

Quality Management in the Hotel Industry in the Mountainous Area of Romania [PDF]

open access: yesOvidius University Annals: Economic Sciences Series, 2020
The importance of quality in the tourism sector must consider the socio-cultural progress of people and their critique of their distance from nature. Choosing as research object the quality management in the hotel industry in the mountain area of Romania

Coalition Formation in a Global Warming Game: How the Design of Protocols Affects the Success of Environmental Treaty-Making [PDF]

open access: yes
We combine the newest concepts of non-cooperative coalition theory with a computable general equilibrium model close to the seminal RICE-model of Nordhaus and Yang (1996) to determine stable coalition structures in a global warming game.

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Enemies and Friends in Hedonic Games: Individual Deviations, Stability and Manipulation [PDF]

open access: yes
We consider hedonic games with separable preferences, and explore the existence of stable coalition structures if only individual deviations are allowed. For two natural subdomains of separable preferences, namely preference domains based on (1) aversion ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.
