ABSTRACT Climate modelling has projected increasing temperatures and a shift in rainfall systems in southern Australia, suggesting an increase in the summer–autumn feed gap of pasture systems based on temperate species. Tropical (C4) pasture species may diversify the feed base and help mitigate climate variability in these areas.

Expansion of invasive carabids across elevation and habitats on sub‐Antarctic South Georgia
Two introduced carabid species have continued to expand their ranges on the sub‐Antarctic island of South Georgia over the past 10–15 years. The species have colonised inland valleys and are present across habitats but are more abundant in those with high vegetation cover. N‐mixture models revealed the optimal sampling method, intensity and habitat for

Latitudinal Gradients in Position and Climatology of Upper Tree Limits Across Europe
ABSTRACT Aim The upper tree limit (UTL) marks the upper boundary of the realized niche of trees. It is commonly located below the treeline, which represents the cold boundary of the fundamental niche of trees. We hypothesized that the elevational offset between the UTL and the treeline is partly systematic and can be predicted using topographic and ...

Distribution of Tropical Vegetation From the Pliocene to the Anthropocene
ABSTRACT Aim The tropics harbour most of Earth's terrestrial biodiversity. This biodiversity has been influenced by cycles of climatic stability and instability over millions of years and may be affected by abrupt changes in the near future. We reconstructed the geographic distribution of the major tropical vegetation types (deserts, semi‐arid ...

ABSTRACT The American manatee (Trichechus manatus) requires freshwater mainly from rivers and springs to maintain osmoregulatory balance in saline environments. However, in Brazil's semi‐arid Potiguar Basin, manatees now rely solely on submarine freshwater springs because hypersaline estuaries have become unsuitable sources of freshwater.
