Exploring New Zealand Consumer Affective and Sensory Responses of No and Low (NOLO) Alcohol Wines in a Realistic Consumption Setting

open access: yesJournal of Sensory Studies, Volume 41, Issue 4, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Declining alcohol consumption both in New Zealand and globally has increased interest in no‐ and low‐alcohol (NOLO) wines; however, limited research has examined how alcohol level influences consumer responses. This study investigated how alcohol content (0%, 6%, and 13%) affected such responses for Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc, and Merlot ...

The Biofuels Blueprint: Understanding the U.S. Renewable Fuel Standard

open access: yesApplied Economic Perspectives and Policy, Volume 48, Issue 3, Page 565-590, July 2026.
ABSTRACT We provide a comprehensive review of the U.S. Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS), synthesizing nearly two decades of program evolution, market outcomes, and economic analysis. The RFS mandates minimum volumes of renewable fuel blending through a nested structure based on life‐cycle greenhouse gas reductions, enforced via tradeable Renewable ...

Identification of Sources of Dissolved Organic Matter Using Multi‐Isotope Approach

open access: yesCLEAN – Soil, Air, Water, Volume 54, Issue 7, July 2026.
• A precise and multi‐isotope method was developed using solid phase extraction (SPE) and Element Analyzer – Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometry (EA‐IRMS) to characterize the dissolved organic matter (DOM). • The DOM extraction and elution methods were standardized for natural waters containing as low as 0.5 mg DOM. • The extraction efficiencies range from

Regeneration Strategies in Seed Plants: A Continuum Shaping Survival

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 7, July 2026.
Seed plants dominate terrestrial ecosystems in part because regeneration is not a single event, but a coordinated sequence of traits acting across time and space. Here, we synthesize regeneration strategies in seed plants as a continuous, integrated framework spanning pre‐germination regulation, germination timing, seedling emergence, soil seed banking,

Microclimate of cemetery habitats and nest site selection of Eresus kollari (Araneae: Eresidae) in South Korea

open access: yesEcosphere, Volume 17, Issue 7, July 2026.
Abstract Nest site selection and construction are important life history events for many animals. These decisions are largely governed by abiotic factors such as temperature, humidity, and solar radiation. Eresus kollari—a burrowing spider that excavates its own nest and rears its offspring within—likewise faces important decisions when choosing where ...

Determining soil erosion rates on a grazed Australian hillslope: Comparison of two landform evolution models with field‐based methods

open access: yesEarth Surface Processes and Landforms, Volume 51, Issue 7, July 2026.
Erosion rates were quantified using field methods (137Cs, sediment loading) and two landform evolution models (LEMs), SIBERIA and SSSPAM, on a grazed catchment analogous to nearby mining sites, filling the gap in field data comparisons. Model estimates aligned with field data, demonstrating both LEMs' predictive potential for erosion in grazed ...

Cross‐National Analysis of Consumer Preferences to Oat‐Banana‐Drinks With Alaria esculenta in Germany and Scotland

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 7, July 2026.
Oat‐banana drinks containing 0%, 1%, 3%, or 5% edible seaweed Alaria esculenta were developed and evaluated by consumers in Germany and Scotland. Seaweed addition up to 1% did not adversely affect overall liking, whereas 3% and especially 5% reduced sensory acceptance.

What does coexistence mean? Insight from place‐based trajectories of pastoralists and bears encounters in the Pyrenees

open access: yesPeople and Nature, Volume 8, Issue 7, Page 2091-2103, July 2026.
Abstract The recovery of large carnivores in Europe raises issues related to sharing landscape with humans. Beyond technical solutions, it is widely recognized that social factors also contribute to shaping coexistence. In this context, scholars increasingly stress the need to adopt place‐based approaches by analysing how humans and wildlife interact ...

What turns us off about green and blue spaces in cities? Understanding perceived problems and unpleasant experiences for more just urban planning, design and management

open access: yesPeople and Nature, Volume 8, Issue 7, Page 2393-2409, July 2026.
Abstract The planning, design and management of urban green and blue spaces necessitate trade‐offs between these spaces' many benefits and their drawbacks, but knowledge of perceived problems and unpleasant experiences in urban green and blue spaces remains limited.
