Molecular coat colour genetics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Coat colour, being sufficiently easy to observe and score, is a model phenotype for studying gene action and interaction. Farm animals provide us a valuable resource for identifying genes behind such phenotypic traits, because they show a remarkably ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Coat Color of Korean Brindle Cattle and Melanocortin 1 Receptor (MC1R) mRNA: Variation of 3'-Untranslated Region and Expression

open access: yesJournal of Animal Reproduction and Biotechnology, 2014
The objective of this study was to determine the breed differences in the 3'-untranslated region (UTR) of MC1R mRNA, which may be used to distinguish Korean brindle cattle (Chikso) from other breeds. We investigated the relationship between the variation

Effect of coat and skin color variation on longevity, ethnological and functional indices in local goats

open access: yesRevista Científica, 2023
The aim of this research was to evaluate the effect of variation in number and diversity of colors, coat pattern, and skin color and its effect on longevity and etnological indices in local goats from Northern Mexico.

Chromosomal assignment of the canine melanophilin gene (MLPH): a candidate gene for coat color dilution in Pinschers

open access: yes, 2005
Pinschers affected by coat color dilution show a specific pigmentation phenotype. The dilute pigmentation phenotype leads to a silver-blue appearance of the eumelanin-containing fur and a pale sandy color of pheomelanin-containing fur.

The Sar1 GTPase coordinates biosynthetic cargo selection with endoplasmic reticulum export site assembly. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Cargo selection and export from the endoplasmic reticulum is mediated by the COPII coat machinery that includes the small GTPase Sar1 and the Sec23/24 and Sec13/31 complexes.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Table_2_MC03g0810, an Important Candidate Gene Controlling Black Seed Coat Color in Bitter Gourd (Momordica spp.).xls

open access: yes, 2022
Seed coat color is one of the most intuitive phenotypes in bitter gourd (Momordica spp.). Although the inheritance of the seed coat color has been reported, the gene responsible for it is still unknown.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.
