Performance Potential of High Gear Ratio Coaxial Magnetic Gears

2021 IEEE International Magnetic Conference (INTERMAG), 2021
It has been traditionally thought that a coaxial magnetic gear (MG) can only have a high volumetric torque density at a low gear ratio. This paper points out that by using the right sized radius and utilizing judicious radial parameter sweep analysis a high torque density can be created that also operates with a high gear ratio.

Design and Optimization of Coaxial Magnetic Gear With Double-Layer PMs and Spoke Structure for Tidal Power Generation

IEEE/ASME transactions on mechatronics, 2023
A coaxial magnetic gear (CMG) with double-layer permanent magnets (PMs) and Spoke structure is proposed to replace the mechanical gearbox in tidal power generation system.

Coaxial magnetic gear design

2016 IEEE Conference on Electromagnetic Field Computation (CEFC), 2016
In this paper a design tool for coaxial magnetic gears will be presented. In particular the demagnetization issues and the mechanical constraints will be highlighted. The design procedure is especially tailored for multi-objective optimization.

Topology Optimization of the Reluctance Coaxial Magnetic Gear

IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 2022
The reluctance coaxial magnetic gear (RMG) has been recently considered for high-speed applications. Here, topology optimization (TO) is applied to the variable reluctance component of the RMG, with the objective of maximizing the RMG’s volumetric torque

Coaxial Magnetic Gear Design and Optimization

IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2017
The main aim of this paper is the imposition of constraints for the multiobjective optimizations of magnetic gears. In order to reduce the computational effort, a semianalytic design procedure is adopted, providing a fast simulation tool that can be embedded within an optimization loop.
