Analysis of coaxial magnetic gears

2015 International Conference on Clean Electrical Power (ICCEP), 2015
The behavior of a magnetic gear which employs rare earth magnets is analyzed; the magnetic gear allows the power to be transmitted by transforming speed and torque. An analytical simplified approach for the analysis of the considered magnetic gear is used in this paper. The approach can be suitable for design aims.

Review and Analysis of Coaxial Magnetic Gear Pole Pair Count Selection Effects

IEEE Journal of Emerging and Selected Topics in Power Electronics, 2022
Magnetic gears perform the same function as mechanical gears using magnetic fields instead of interlocking teeth. A review of the design processes used in the literature demonstrates that a critical design parameter, pole pair count, is often given ...

Impact of Bridged Flux Modulators on Coaxial Magnetic Gear

2023 10th International Forum on Electrical Engineering and Automation (IFEEA), 2023
In a coaxial magnetic gear, the bridged modulating ring, fabricated from continuous laminations with interposing bridges (flux modulators) between steel components, demands reduced manufacturing effort in contrast to the conventional modulating ring ...

Dynamic model of coaxial magnetic planetary gear

2015 18th International Conference on Electrical Machines and Systems (ICEMS), 2015
This paper presents equations, describing the dynamic behavior of a coaxial magnetic planetary gear and its implementation in a Matlab/Simulink model. Parameters of speed oscillations caused by a disturbance of the drive torque are studied. The paper also includes simplified formulas for calculation an eigenfrequency and damping parameters of the ...

Multi-objective optimization of coaxial magnetic gears

International Journal of Applied Electromagnetics and Mechanics, 2018
In this paper multi-objective optimization techniques are applied to the design of magnetic gears in order to maximize the performances and to obtain a competitive device. A parallelized stochastic algorithm is implemented and an analytical tool based on magnetic fields computation and losses estimation is used to compute the multi-objective function ...

An optimization tool for coaxial magnetic gears

COMPEL - The international journal for computation and mathematics in electrical and electronic engineering, 2017
Purpose This paper aims to show a complete optimization tool that can be used for the design of coaxial magnetic gears. In the first part, the paper deals with the semi-analytic modelling of these machines and also discusses how to reduce the computational efforts. In the second part, an optimization algorithm is adopted for finding the Pareto optimal

Magnetic Materials for Coaxial Magnetic Gear Torque Density Enchainment

2020 21st International Symposium on Electrical Apparatus & Technologies (SIELA), 2020
In this paper are analyzed different soft and hard magnetic materials for coaxial magnetic gears torque enhancement. Estimation of material properties impact over the magnetic gear input and output torques is implemented by finite element method model. The modelling is carried out by Ansys-Maxwell software.
