The Estimation of the Time Constant of the Human Inner Ear Pressure Change by Noninvasive Technique

open access: yesModelling and Simulation in Engineering, 2009
We propose a noninvasive method to estimate the time constant. The calculation of this factor permits us to understand the pressure variations of the inner ear and also predict the behavior of the flow resistance of the cochlear aqueduct.

Padrão radiológico da otosclerose coclear. Estudo por TC de 14 doentes.

open access: yesActa Médica Portuguesa, 1994
In this review of cochlear otosclerosis 14 cases were studied by CT scan aiming to establish a densitometric pattern of the capsular foci and relating it to the hearing and vestibule dysfunctions.

Extending the glymphatic system beyond the brain: The Cochlear aqueduct as a neuroimmune gateway to the inner ear

open access: yesNeurobiology of Disease
The cochlear aqueduct, located within the temporal bone, forms a narrow connection between the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) in the subarachnoid space and the perilymph of the scala tympani in the inner ear.

Inner ear malformation

open access: yesListy klinicke logopedie, 2020
Inner ear malformation comprises a broad group of disorders, the main symptom of which is hearing loss. The disorder occurs during the embryonic development of the auditory system. Only about 20 % of malformations can be diagnosed radiologically. Hearing

The human cochlear aqueduct and accessory canals: a micro-CT analysis using a 3D reconstruction paradigm [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Objective: We sought to study the anatomic variations of the cochlear aqueduct and its accessory canals in human temporal bones using micro-CT and a 3D reconstruction paradigm.

Cochlear aqueduct revisited: A histological study using human fetuses [PDF]

open access: yes
Background and aim The cochlear aqueduct (CA) connects between the perilymphatic space of the cochlea and the subarachnoid space in the posterior cranial fossa. The study aimed to examine 1) whether cavitation of the CA occurs on the subarachnoid side or

Vestibular impairment in cochlear implanted children presenting enlarged vestibular aqueduct and enlarged endolymphatic sac [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
International audienceEnlarged vestibular aqueduct (EVA) is a common finding in tomodensitometry. When cranial MRI is performed, enlarged endolymphatic sac (EES) can also be found.

Cochlear aqueduct flow resistance is not constant during evoked inner ear pressure change in the guinea pig [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Inner ear fluid pressure was measured during 6.25 mHz square wave middle ear pressure manipulation, with a perforated tympanic membrane. After a negative-going middle ear pressure change the calculated flow resistance of the inner ear pressure release ...

Cochlear lateral wall and vestibular aqueduct in temporal bones with endolymphatic hydrops from patients with and without vestibular symptoms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Objectives: This study aims to compare the stria vascularis and spiral ligament, and evaluate the bony arch around the vestibularaqueduct, in temporal bones with endolymphatic hydrops (EH) from patients with (EH+), and without (EH-) vestibular symptoms ...

Analysis of Cochlear Parameters in Paediatric Inner Ears with Enlarged Vestibular Aqueduct and Patent Cochlea [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
Is cochlear implant (CI) electrode selection for cochleae with an enlarged vestibular aqueduct (EVA) the same as that for patent cochleae with a normal inner ear structure?
