A Novel LMX1A Frameshift Variant Underlies Familial Phenotypic Heterogeneity in DFNA7. [PDF]
Pathogenic variants in the LIM‐homeodomain transcription factor LMX1A represent a rare yet critical etiology for autosomal dominant nonsyndromic hearing loss 7 (DFNA7) and less frequently, its autosomal recessive counterpart (ARNSHL). Here, we describe a novel heterozygous frameshift variant, LMX1A c.405delT (p.Phe135LeufsTer3), identified in a three ...

Labyrinthine Abnormalities on MRI in Untreated Otosclerosis: Prevalence and Clinical Relevance
In untreated otosclerosis with labyrinthine symptoms, delayed 3D FLAIR MRI rarely demonstrates endolymphatic hydrops but frequently reveals blood–labyrinth barrier (BLB) disruption. BLB enhancement is spatially associated with cochlear endosteal and round window involvement and increases with the severity of the hearing loss phenotype.

Complications of Cochlear Implant Surgery in Low‐ and Middle‐Income Countries: A Systematic Review
Abstract Objective Hearing loss disproportionately affects low‐ and middle‐income countries (LMICs). Recent advances in cochlear implant surgery have benefitted patients globally, but the risk of complications in LMICs may be heightened due to social and structural factors.
