Preferential Cocrystallization among Distyrylbenzene Derivatives

Chemistry of Materials, 2000
A combination of powder and single-crystal X-ray diffraction techniques were used to probe the generality of phenyl−perfluorophenyl stacking among a small library of 1,4-distyrylbenzene derivatives. The specific derivatives in the present study are 1,4-bis-(4-dimethylaminostyryl)benzene (DMADSB), 1,4-distyrylbenzene (DSB), 1,4-di(1-cyano-2 ...

Cocrystallization and polymer miscibility

Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 1980
AbstractLow‐density polyethylene was blended in various proportions with an ethylene/propylene/1,4‐hexadiene copolymer having an ethylene/propylene mole ratio of 4.5 and a low level of crystallinity. The DSC melting peak of polyethylene was decreased, the unit cell was expanded, and the spherulitic development was disturbed.

Concomitant cocrystallization on engineered surfaces

CrystEngComm, 2013
Engineered self-assembled monolayer (SAM) substrates were successfully illustrated as a high throughput polymorph screening method for cocrystals. In this study, we have obtained new polymorphs of the cocrystals of caffeine and oxalic acid (2 : 1 molar ratio).

Large-Periodicity Two-Dimensional Crystals by Cocrystallization

Nano Letters, 2006
Patterning surfaces with features on the low end of the nanoscale can efficiently be accomplished with physisorbed monolayers. Here, cocrystallization is revealed as a powerful approach toward dramatically increasing the periodicity of surface features and expanding the length scale on which these patterns can form.

Physical stability enhancement of theophylline via cocrystallization

International Journal of Pharmaceutics, 2006
The crystal form adopted by the respiratory drug theophylline was modified using a crystal engineering strategy in order to search for a solid material with improved physical stability. Cocrystals, also referred to as crystalline molecular complexes, were prepared with theophylline and one of several dicarboxylic acids.

Cocrystallization‐Induced Red Ultralong Organic Phosphorescence

Angewandte Chemie International Edition
AbstractOrganic cocrystals formed through multicomponent self‐assembly have attracted significant interest owing to their clear structure and tunable optical properties. However, most cocrystal systems suffer from inefficient long‐wavelength emission and low phosphorescence efficiency due to strong non‐radiative processes governed by the energy gap law.

Cocrystallization Method of Porous Nanostructures Synthesis

MRS Advances, 2016
The paper describes a novel electrochemical method of metal nanowire synthesis via coherent cocrystallization of metal with metal salt. Using the method described, iron, copper, and tin nanowires as well as lead nanowalls in the matrix of ferrous chloride FeCl2 salt were synthesized.

Improving solubility of fisetin by cocrystallization

CrystEngComm, 2014
Fisetin, a naturally occurring polyphenolic compound, has a proven record of in vitro demonstrated anti-carcinogenic, anti-inflammatory and antiviral properties, yet similarly to many promising APIs, its in vivo administration is complicated by low aqueous solubility and unfavourable pharmacokinetics.

Cocrystallization of organic compounds

2023
This thesis discusses the synthesis, characterization, and properties of multi-component crystalline materials of active pharmaceutical ingredients. A special emphasis is placed on cocrystallization, which is the supramolecular phenomenon of aggregation of two or more different chemical entities in a crystalline lattice through non-covalent ...

Retrospection on Polymorphism and Cocrystallization of Anti-Retrovirals

Current Topics in Medicinal Chemistry, 2013
Successful pharmaceutical development of a drug molecule depends not only on its potency and selectivity but also on its solid state. Thus the properties of active pharmaceutical ingrdient depend on the identity of its constituents as well as on their arrangement.
