A generalized SEIRW-VN framework for modeling infectious disease dynamics

open access: yesScientific Reports
Understanding how infectious diseases spread requires models that integrate both human contact structure and environmental factors. We propose SEIRW-VN, a generalized epidemic framework that combines network heterogeneity, indirect transmission via ...

Does Systems Differentiation Present a Risk for Contemporary Society?

open access: yesTeorie vědy, 2009
For Niklas Luhmann modern society is a functionally differentiated society, i. e. it is composed of heterogeneous but equal parts which are relatively independent and are defined as social subsystems. Luhmann’s analysis presents contemporary society as a

The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.

A parallel Viterbi decoder for block cyclic and convolution codes

open access: yes, 2005
We present a parallel version of Viterbi's decoding procedure, for which we are able to demonstrate that the resultant task graph has restricted complexity in that the number of communications to or from any processor cannot exceed 4 for BCH codes.

An Analysis: To Code or Not to Code—That is the Question [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Science and Technology, 2008
Most blood glucose monitoring systems need coding to correct for variation in lots of enzyme, which leads to differences in lots of strips. About 16% of patients miscode the meters, although the magnitude of the miscoding is unstudied. This miscoding has the potential to cause errors as high as 30% and to cause errors in adjusting insulin therapy that ...

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Narratology of Signs in Nima’s “Afsaneh” [PDF]

open access: yesمتن شناسی ادب فارسی, 2010
Semiology is a new science and its history returns to several decades ago. This science has a great capacity for reading and criticism of literary works. If this science approaches to literary analysis and critism, it will provide a great deal of precise

Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.
