One health assessment of farmers’ knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAPs) on zoonoses in Bangladesh

open access: yesScientific Reports
In Bangladesh, farming serves as a key livelihood, leading to a higher risk of zoonotic diseases due to frequent animal interactions and traditional practices.

CRISPR-Cas9 off-targeting assessment with nucleic acid duplex energy parameters

open access: yesGenome Biology, 2018
Background Recent experimental efforts of CRISPR-Cas9 systems have shown that off-target binding and cleavage are a concern for the system and that this is highly dependent on the selected guide RNA (gRNA) design. Computational predictions of off-targets

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Non-extensive Trends in the Size Distribution of Coding and Non-coding DNA Sequences in the Human Genome

open access: yes, 2005
We study the primary DNA structure of four of the most completely sequenced human chromosomes (including chromosome 19 which is the most dense in coding), using Non-extensive Statistics.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

miR-144/451 in hematopoiesis and beyond

open access: yesExRNA, 2019
MicroRNAs (miRNAs), a class of 18–25 nucleotide (nt) non-coding RNAs, usually inhibit the expression of their target genes. They are transcribed from endogenous genes and are processed for maturation by multiple pathways.

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

On Particle Swarm Optimization for MIMO Channel Estimation

open access: yesJournal of Electrical and Computer Engineering, 2012
Evolutionary algorithms, in particular particle swarm optimization (PSO), have recently received much attention. PSO has successfully been applied to a wide range of technical optimization problems, including channel estimation.

Power and Rate Adaptation Based on CSI and Velocity Variation for OFDM Systems Under Doubly Selective Fading Channels

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2016
In this paper, a novel joint continuous power and rate adaptation scheme is proposed fordoubly selective fading channels in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems, based on terminal velocity and perfect or imperfect channel state ...
