Geomembrane Coefficients of Interface Friction

Geosynthetics International, 1995
The influence of soil particle shape, confining pressure and the amount of relative displacement on the value of the interface friction angle are studied in the laboratory using a ring shear apparatus. Two quartz sands, one angular and the other rounded, with two geomembranes, one soft and the other hard, were used as the interfacing constituents. The

Friction coefficients of tablet masses

International Journal of Pharmaceutics, 1981
Abstract In order to obtain a better understanding of friction during tabletting, the possibility of determination of friction coefficients was investigated using a reciprocating tablet machine instrumented with piezoelectric load washers on the punches and strain gauges at the die wall.

Friction coefficient of skin in real‐time

Skin Research and Technology, 2003
Background/purpose: Friction studies are useful in quantitatively investigating the skin surface. Previous studies utilized different apparatuses and materials for these investigations but there was no real‐time test parameter control or monitoring. Our studies incorporated the commercially available UMT Series Micro‐Tribometer, a tribology instrument

Frictional coefficients of multisubunit structures. I. Theory

Biopolymers, 1967
AbstractThe theory of Kirkwood for the translational frictional coefficients of structures composed of subunits has been generalized in two ways in order to consider aggregates of nonidentical subunits. One of these generalizations fails when the sizes of subunits are too disparate; the other, derived from a surface shell distribution of frictional ...

Hydrodynamic friction coefficients of coated spherical particles

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 2009
The complete set of hydrodynamic friction coefficients for a spherical particle coated with a porous layer and immersed in a viscous fluid is evaluated in analytic form. The coefficients allow the calculation of the flow disturbance caused by the coated particle for any incident flow which satisfies the creeping flow equations.
