Ceramic Particle‐Reinforced Medium‐Entropy Alloys With Outstanding Mechanical Properties Prepared by Novel Micro‐LPBF

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An innovative medium entropy alloy (MEA) composite material was fabricated via micro laser powder bed fusion (μ‐LPBF) with appropriate nano‐ceramic particles doping and exhibited markedly improved overall performance, including synergistically enhanced strength and ductility, increased hardness and compressive strength, improved wear resistance and ...

Asymmetrical slip propensity: required coefficient of friction [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of NeuroEngineering and Rehabilitation, 2013
Most studies in performing slips and falls research reported their results after the ipsilateral leg of subjects (either right foot or left foot) was guided to contact the contaminated floor surface although many studies indicated concerns for asymmetries of legs in kinematic or kinetic variables.

High‐Resolution Characterization of Protein‐Conjugated, mRNA‐Loaded Lipid Nanoparticles by Analytical Ultracentrifugation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Lipid nanoparticles containing messenger RNA are characterized by sedimentation velocity analytical ultracentrifugation using UltraScan's new Custom Grid algorithm to provide multi‐dimensional distributions for partial specific volume (particle density), molar mass, sedimentation, diffusion, and hydrodynamic radius.

On the friction coefficient of straight-chain aggregates

open access: yes, 2011
A methodology to calculate the friction coefficient of an aggregate in the continuum regime is proposed. The friction coefficient and the monomer shielding factors, aggregate-average or individual, are related to the molecule-aggregate collision rate ...

Predicting Atomic Charges in MOFs by Topological Charge Equilibration

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An atomic charge prediction method is presented that is able to accurately reproduce ab‐initio‐derived reference charges for a large number of metal–organic frameworks. Based on a topological charge equilibration scheme, static charges that fulfill overall neutrality are quickly generated.

Non-monotonic dependence of the friction coefficient on heterogeneous stiffness

open access: yes, 2014
The complexity of the frictional dynamics at the microscopic scale makes difficult to identify all of its controlling parameters. Indeed, experiments on sheared elastic bodies have shown that the static friction coefficient depends on loading conditions,

Laser‐Welded Cellulose‐Carbon Nanotube Nanocomposites as a 3D Scaffold of Si Anodes for High‐Performance Lithium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A Si anode comprising entangled networks of cellulose and SWCNT (C‐CNT) nanocomposites as an anode electrode for a high‐performance LIB is realized by fully utilizing the generated microstructure of a novel conductive 3D scaffold via a low‐temperature and eco‐friendly process. Additionally, localized heating via photo‐thermal conversion can be utilized

A Study on the Tribofilm Growth and Tribological Properties of Tribofilms Formed from Zinc Dialkyl Dithiophosphate (ZDDP) and Molybdenum Dialkyl Dithiocarbamate (MoDTC)

open access: yesTribology Online, 2018
Tribofilms are critical for the management of wear and the control of friction. This study focused on the tribological properties of tribofilms to clarify their antiwear and low-friction mechanisms.
