Coefficient of restitution for wet particles [PDF]
The influence of a wetting liquid on the coefficient of restitution (COR) is investigated experimentally by tracing freely falling particles bouncing on a wet surface. The dependence of the COR on the impact velocity and various properties of the particle and the wetting liquid is presented and discussed in terms of dimensionless numbers that ...

Coefficient of restitution as a fluctuating quantity [PDF]
The coefficient of restitution of a spherical particle in contact with a flat plate is investigated as a function of the impact velocity. As an experimental observation we notice non-trivial (non-Gaussian) fluctuations of the measured values. For a fixed impact velocity, the probability density of the coefficient of restitution, $p( )$, is formed by ...

Coefficient of restitution of colliding viscoelastic spheres [PDF]
We perform a dimension analysis for colliding viscoelastic spheres to show that the coefficient of normal restitution $ $ depends on the impact velocity g as =1- _1g^{1/5}+ _2g^{2/5}\mp..., in accordance with recent findings. We develop a simple theory to find explicit expressions for coefficients _1 and _2.

Impact of a pressurized membrane: Coefficient of restitution
Pressurized membranes are usually used for low cost structures (e.g., inflatable beds), impact protections (e.g., airbags), or sport balls. The last two examples deal with impacts on the human body. Underinflated protective membranes are not effective whereas overinflated objects can cause injury at impact. The coefficient of restitution represents the

Coefficient of restitution for viscoelastic disks [PDF]
The dissipative collision of two identical viscoelastic disks is studied. By using a known law for the elastic part of the interaction force and the viscoelastic damping model an analytical solution for the coefficient of restitution shall be given. The coefficient of restitution depends significantly on the impact velocity. It approaches one for small

Coefficient of Restitution Interpreted as Damping in Vibroimpact [PDF]
During impact the relative motion of two bodies is often taken to be simply represented as half of a damped sine wave, according to the Kelvin-Voigt model. This is shown to be logically untenable, for it indicates that the bodies must exert tension on one another just before separating.
