Coenzyme Q10 in the Human Retina
To determine the concentration of coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) in the human retina.Eye tissues were lyophilized and exhaustively extracted with heptane. The extracts were analyzed for CoQ10 by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).The average concentration of CoQ10 in the retina was 42+/-11 nanomoles/g dry retina for donors younger than 30 years of age

Statin‐associated muscle symptoms (SAMS) are frequent adverse effects of statin therapy and have been hypothesized to result from impaired coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) biosynthesis. Although genetic determinants of CoQ10 levels have been reported, genome‐wide association studies (GWASs) conducted specifically in statin users are lacking. Moreover, direct CoQ10

Atorvastatin therapy and antioxidant status correction in patients with metabolic syndrome
Aim. To study the changes in antioxidant status and glucose-insulin homeostasis among atorvastatin-treated patients with metabolic syndrome and to investigate the potential of coenzyme Q10 for the correction of these changes. Material and methods.

Simvastatin induces metabolic suppression, mitochondrial dysfunction, and atrophy‐related responses in skeletal muscle cells. In differentiated C2C12 myotubes, metformin partially attenuates these alterations by preserving myotube structural integrity, reducing cellular stress signaling, and maintaining mitochondrial network organization despite ...

Coenzyme Q10 Supplementation for the Treatment of Statin Induced Myalgia [PDF]
Background: A significant number of the population is on 3-hydroxy-3methylglutaryl coenzyme A (HMG-CoA) reductase inhibitors (statins) because statins are the main pharmacologic drug prescribed for the treatment of hypercholesteremia.

Coenzyme Q10 fetal plasma levels [PDF]
This study aims at determining a cutoff value differentiating the fetal from the adult coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) values and comparing substantial increases in CoQ10 plasma levels in fetuses with hypoxic hypoxia and nonimmune fetal ...
