Cogging Torque Reducing in Dual-Rotor Motor by Suitable Selection Inner and Outer Slot Opening Widths [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
In order to reduce the cogging torque in dual-rotor permanent magnet (PM) ring torque motor, the expression of cogging torque is deduced on the motor, and the influence rules of the resulting cogging torque are analyzed with change the inner and outer ...

Research on Cogging Torque Reduction of Direct-Drive Type Dual-Rotor Radial Flux Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor for Electric Propulsion Aircraft

open access: yesEnergies
The direct-drive type high-torque-density motor is one of the most promising solutions of electric propulsion for aircraft. The cogging torque of the direct-drive motor causes torque ripple, vibration, and noise, which seriously affect the stability and ...

Force Analysis and Torque Production of the Doubly Salient Parallel Path Magnetic Machine

open access: yesIET Electric Power Applications, Volume 20, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
This paper presents an in‐depth mathematical analysis of torque and force production mechanisms in the Doubly Salient Parallel Path Magnetic Motor (DS‐PPMM). Electromagnetic force distribution, torque ripple characteristics and the contributions of magnetic salience are analysed through analytical modelling and verified by finite element analysis.

Design and Implementation of Position-Based Repetitive Control Torque Observer for Cogging Torque Compensation in PMSM [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
In permanent magnet machines, the cogging torque caused by reluctance variations in the air gap may degrade the speed control performance in low speed and will undoubtedly limit its operational range.

Suppression of DC Winding Current Harmonics in Wound‐Field Machines Under PWM Excitation by Using Active Voltage Injection and LC Low‐Pass Filters

open access: yesIET Electric Power Applications, Volume 20, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
In this paper, the LC low‐pass filter is designed and connected in parallel with the DC winding of the MFMWF machine to suppress the high‐frequency sideband harmonics in the DC winding current for the first time. The suppression effect is validated by experiments.

Analysis and Suppression of Spoke-Type Permanent Magnet Machines Cogging Torque with Different Conditions for Electric Vehicles

open access: yesWorld Electric Vehicle Journal
Spoke-type permanent magnet (STPM) machines have high power density and low cost due to flux concentrated effect and high air-gap flux density, but they can cause high cogging torque and torque ripple.

Research on cogging torque reduction method for permanent magnet synchronous motor accounting for the magnetic pole edge effect

open access: yesIET Electric Power Applications
Due to the existence of the magnetic pole edge effect, the actual cogging torque of the existing segmented step skew motor does not reach the theoretical minimum.
