From mode choice to modal diversion: A new behavioural paradigm and an application to the study of the demand for innovative transport services [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We analyse past research efforts that focus on modal diversion in the transport sector, as opposed to the classical mode choice concept, showing the added value of this alternative framework that emerges from the existing scientific literature. The modal

Machine‐Learning Decomposition Identifies a Big Two Structure in Human Personality with Distinct Neurocognitive Profiles

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Using machine learning on a mega‐scale global dataset (n = 1,336,840) reveals a robust personality trait architecture beyond the Big Five. A Big Two model, broadly capturing social engagement and internal mentation, defines a geometric space that links personality to neurocognitive profiles.

MINDflex Training for Cognitive Flexibility in Chronic Pain: A Randomized, Controlled Cross-Over Trial

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2020
Impairments in executive functioning are prevalent in chronic pain conditions, with cognitive inflexibility being the most frequently reported. The current randomized, cross-over trial, piloted a computerized cognitive training (CCT) program based on ...

Encouraging the perceptual underdog: positive affective priming of nonpreferred local–global processes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Two experiments examined affective priming of global and local perception. Participants attempted to detect a target that might be present as either a global or a local shape. Verbal primes were used in 1 experiment, and pictorial primes were used in the

Hierarchical Summary Statistics Encoding Across Primary Visual and Posterior Parietal Cortices

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study shows that mouse V1 simultaneously encodes the ensemble mean and variance of motion, providing a robust summary‐statistic representation that persists despite single‐neuron variability. These signals propagate to PPC, where they are transformed into abstract category representations during decision making.

Multimodal Optical Imaging and Modulation with Simultaneous Electrophysiology Through Smart Dura in Non‐Human Primates

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates multimodal integration in non‐human primates, combining large‐scale, high‐density electrophysiology using Smart Dura with optical techniques such as multiphoton imaging (MPI), photothrombotic lesioning, optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA), wide‐field intrinsic signal optical imaging (ISOI), and optogenetics.
