Cognitive and affective consequences of information and choice overload

open access: yes, 2020
In our information-rich world, people face a great many choice alternatives involving both small and large stakes, from jam and chocolate to health and pension plans. Though classic economics and psychology have both traditionally emphasized the benefits of more information and greater choice, a sizable and parallel body of research has demonstrated ...

Cognitive Overload: Jailbreaking Large Language Models with Overloaded Logical Thinking

open access: yesFindings of the Association for Computational Linguistics: NAACL 2024
While large language models (LLMs) have demonstrated increasing power, they have also given rise to a wide range of harmful behaviors. As representatives, jailbreak attacks can provoke harmful or unethical responses from LLMs, even after safety alignment.

Intranasal Delivery of Gallium–Quercetin Nanoparticles for Multi‐Target Ferroptosis Inhibition in Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Leveraging the chemical similarity between Ga3+ and Fe3+ as well as the antioxidant properties of quercetin, gallium–quercetin nanoparticles (GQNPs) were prepared to integrate iron homeostasis regulation, oxidative stress suppression, and mitochondrial protection for multi‐target ferroptosis inhibition in Parkinson's Disease.

Transient Sleep Deprivation Induces Persistent Auditory Neuropathy via ROS‐Initiated Neuroinflammation and BK Channel Suppression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Sleep disturbance severity closely tracks hearing loss in a clinical cohort, yet the mechanistic link remains unclear. Acute sleep deprivation is shown to trigger transient cochlear oxidative stress that switches into a self‐sustaining neuroinflammatory state, suppressing BK channels and causing irreversible synaptopathy.

SIRT7‐Mediated H2BK120 Succinylation Drives Aberrant Mitophagy in Sepsis‐Associated Cognitive Dysfunction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Sepsis triggers hippocampal SIRT7 loss, promoting histone H2B succinylation and activation of the PD‐1/PD‐L1–PINK1 axis. This metabolic‐epigenetic cascade drives aberrant mitophagy and neuronal injury, ultimately causing cognitive deficits. Targeting SIRT7‐dependent succinylation offers a potential strategy to protect brain function during sepsis ...
