Task-evoked pulse wave amplitude tracks cognitive load

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2023
Cognitive load is a crucial factor in mentally demanding activities and holds significance across various research fields. This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of pulse wave amplitude (PWA) as a measure for tracking cognitive load and ...

PLXDC2 siRNA‐Mediated Intervention Attenuates Microglial Senescence Through cGAS‐STING Signaling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
PLXDC2 was identified as a microglial target in Parkinson's disease through human and mouse single‐cell analyses. Ferritin‐armed biomimetic nanovesicles delivered PLXDC2 siRNA, deferoxamine, and CeO2 nanoparticles across the blood–brain barrier, reducing cGAS‐STING activation, iron burden, oxidative stress, and senescence in microglia, thereby ...

Bioenergetic Materials for Tissue Regeneration: Modulating Metabolism to Promote Cellular Anabolism

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Bioenergetic materials (BEMs) modulate cellular metabolism to promote tissue regeneration. Their principal mechanisms of action include metabolic substrate supplementation, metabolic enzyme modulation, organelle transfer, electrical current regulation, redox homeostasis modulation, and oxygen tension modulation.

An association between fibroblast growth factor 21 and cognitive impairment in iron-overload thalassemia

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
Although an increased fibroblast growth factor 21 (FGF21) level was related to mild cognitive impairment (MCI) in metabolic syndrome patients, any association regarding FGF21 and MCI in thalassemia patients as well as mechanistic insight are questionable.

Restores Aβ Clearance by Overcoming PCSK9–LRP1 Dysregulation and TRIB3‐Mediated Autophagy Blockade in Alzheimer's Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
PCSK9 upregulation in cerebrovascular endothelial cells and microglia destabilizes the Aβ transporter LRP1, while TRIB3‐associated autophagy blockade further limits intracellular Aβ degradation. A RAP‐modified tea‐polyphenol nanoparticle co‐delivers siPCSK9 and siTRIB3 to restore LRP1‐mediated Aβ efflux and autophagy‐dependent degradation, reducing Aβ ...

β‐Adducin Restrains PLA2G4A‐Dependent Lysosomal Membrane Permeabilization and Neuronal Death in Ischemic Stroke

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies β‐adducin as a regulator of lysosomal integrity in ischemic neurons. Ischemia‐associated FTO loss increases m6A modification and destabilizes Add2 mRNA, reducing β‐adducin expression and promoting PLA2G4A accumulation at lysosomes.

Virtual reality and perceived learning effectiveness in accounting studies: the mediating role of task-technology fit

open access: yesCogent Business & Management
The use of virtual reality (VR) for the improvement of learning outcomes for accounting studies is an area in which the research is still limited. Technology-based accounting learning is very important because, currently, the accounting profession is ...
