Atomic Detection and Matter-Wave Coherence [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 1998
We analyze several models of atomic detectors in the context of the measurement of coherence properties of matter waves. In particular, we show that an ionization scheme measures normally-ordered correlation functions of the Schr dinger field, in analogy with the optical situation.

Distributed Target Detection with Coherent Fusion in Tracking Based on Phase Prediction

open access: yesRemote Sensing
In distributed radar, a coherent system often gains attention for its higher detection potential in contrast to its non-coherent counterpart. However, even for a distributed coherent radar, it is difficult to coherently accumulate local observations in ...

Homodyne-like detection for state-discrimination in the presence of phase noise [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We propose an innovative strategy to discriminate between two coherent states affected by either uniform or gaussian phase noise. The strategy is based on a homodyne-like detection scheme with photon-number-resolving detectors in the regime of low ...

Detection and discrimination of coherent motion [PDF]

open access: yesPerception & Psychophysics, 1990
When viewing a pair of bars defined by the difference of spatial Gaussian functions (DOGs), human observers can discriminate accurately the relative movements of the bars, even when they differ in spatial frequency. On each trial, observers viewed two brief presentation intervals in which a pair of vertically oriented DOGs moved randomly back and forth

Mitigation of Nonlinear Impairments by Using Support Vector Machine and Nonlinear Volterra Equalizer

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2019
A support vector machine (SVM) based detection is applied to different equalization schemes for a data center interconnect link using coherent 64 GBd 64-QAM over 100 km standard single mode fiber (SSMF).

DP-QPSK Coherent Detection Using 2D Grating Coupled Silicon Based Receiver

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2021
We propose and demonstrate a 100 Gbit/s silicon photonic (SiPh) coherent receiver (Rx) with advanced digital signal processing (DSP) for dual-polarization quadrature-phase-shift-keying (DP-QPSK) transmission.

4×112 Gb/s/λ MCF Transmission Using Field PDM-PAM4 and Coherent Detection for Datacenter Applications

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2022
The inter-data center links are meeting the challenge of increasing transmission capacity continuously. Here, the tradeoff between transmission capacity and cost and power consumption especially needs to be considered.

Effects of loss on the phase sensitivity with parity detection in an SU(1,1) interferometer

open access: yes, 2018
We theoretically study the effects of loss on the phase sensitivity of an SU(1,1) interferometer with parity detection with various input states. We show that although the sensitivity of phase estimation decreases in the presence of loss, it can still ...

Stabilizer Quantum Error Correction with Qubus Computation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
In this paper we investigate stabilizer quantum error correction codes using controlled phase rotations of strong coherent probe states. We explicitly describe two methods to measure the Pauli operators which generate the stabilizer group of a quantum ...

A self-coherent receiver for detection of
PolMUX coherent signals

open access: yesOptics Express, 2012
A self-coherent receiver capable of demultiplexing PolMUX-signals without an external polarization controller is presented. Training sequences are introduced to estimate the polarization rotation, and a decision feedback recursive algorithm mitigates the random walk of the recovered field.
