Detection statistics for coherent RMCW LiDAR

open access: yesOptics Express, 2021
This paper presents an analytical model and experimental validation for the detection performance and false-alarm rates for phase-encoded random modulation continuous-wave (RMCW) LiDAR. Derivation of the model focuses on propagating the effects of relevant noise sources through the system to determine an analytical expression for the detection rate ...

Lagrangian Based Methods for Coherent Structure Detection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
There has been a proliferation in the development of Lagrangian analytical methods for detecting coherent structures in fluid flow transport, yielding a variety of qualitatively different approaches. We present a review of four approaches and demonstrate

Adaptive Quantum Measurements of a Continuously Varying Phase [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
We analyze the problem of quantum-limited estimation of a stochastically varying phase of a continuous beam (rather than a pulse) of the electromagnetic field.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

On the Average Achievable Rate of QPSK and DQPSK OFDM Over Rapidly Fading Channels

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
Motivated by recent experimental observations, where differentially coherent detection outperforms coherent detection on certain underwater acoustic channels, we revisit the performance of these two methods with respect to the achievable rate in ...

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Simple Noise Mitigation Scheme for Coherent Optical DMT Signal Transmission System

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
We propose and experimentally demonstrate a noise mitigation scheme for coherent optical discrete multitone (DMT) signal transmission system. The proposed scheme can mitigate the laser phase noise and additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) simultaneously ...

GHZ-type and W-type entangled coherent states: generation and Bell-type inequality tests without photon counting [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We study GHZ-type and W-type three-mode entangled coherent states. Both the types of entangled coherent states violate Mermin's version of the Bell inequality with threshold photon detection (i.e., without photon counting).

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Dispensing with Channel Estimation…

open access: yes, 2010
In this article, we investigate the feasibility of noncoherent detection schemes in wireless communication systems as a low-complexity alternative to the family of coherent schemes. The noncoherent schemes require no channel knowledge at the receiver for
